    @MajorRage

    Having the wrong father, like any poor kid whose dad is a criminal.

    As someone who has had a violent partner, I can testify to the unicorn idea, except I didn’t hit her - as so fucking tempting as it was. I just left her.

    However, in terms of random non-partner stuff in the street with drunk girls being violent (in the same way as drunk boys), I’ll happily hit any women who hits my wife, son, or tries to commit violence against me. There’s a good chance she’d still end up kicking my ass of course, but I’d take that chance and floor her if she laid a hand on Mrs gt12, especially.

    @gt12 Is this same violent partner, your current avatar?

    The having the wrong father point is an interesting one. But lets remember, that same father was probably the piece of shit before all the fame came. The fame came, driven by the media, which saw the empire built. But then it came crashing down, as the piece of shit, reminded the world, that under all of the sporting talent, he was still a piece of shit.

    I'm just not sure that those who built him up, don't have any responsibility to the 4 children.

    No, that avatar was, well, perfect. Except she didn’t speak a word of English. And, was about as intellectually advanced as two planks.

    I almost married her.

    I do feel sorry for the kids, but I don’t see how they are different to thousands of similar poor little bastards unlucky enough to have a (insert word here) for a father. With luck, they won’t become the same...

    @MajorRage said in NRL 2019:

    Dunno lads. Yes, I'm sure there are multiple situations where a situation spiraled out of control and the perpetrator was continuously provoked and needled until they lost the plot.

    However, I'm also sure that, unfortunately, Jake the Muss' types do exist and sometimes, nobody needs to do anything other than the perpetrator have a Double Brown.

    @antipodean said in NRL 2019:

    So Jenna Price writing in the SMH asks a question that no one else would bother with. Namely asking what the organisation is going to do for the family after it sacks an employee. Another excellent example of the utter lack of personal responsibility inherent in modern life.

    My question for rugby league is this: when you take back a genius player with a history of alleged violence and drugs, how much coaching and support do you provide him and his family? And when it all goes horribly wrong, what did you have in place beyond dumping Barba and dumping his entire family? These men need coaching off the field as well as on because they are examples to all of us.

    I don't know about this silly clown, but I didn't need a league player to teach me I shouldn't hit women, nor that there may be consequences to my actions.

    Regardless of your point of view, there are 4 kids here who are now without an income source to cloth, feed and educate them. What did they do to deserve this? The same"machine" that put that source in their priveleged position, hence looking after the kids, is now going to deprive them of this.

    What did they do to deserve that?

    A terribly useless instance of compassion mate. Everyone knows and agrees with that

    The victim Olympics crowd's cornerstone and the starting point of the victim/oppressor zero sum narrative with the hands on hips, pursed lips, head tilt that derailss any reasoned attempt at a viable, workable solution.

    Yes there are some Jake types but we're getting to those fluffybunnies too. You're old enough to remember the old pub talk and women bashing boasts. Attitudes have surely improved. They had to, it was horrible.

    We need data or stats, (or a first responders info...) to make a reasoned assessment on a univesal narrative that I believe paints us as ready to start swinging the moment we aren't reminded its bad and chicks as precious porcelain angels, all defenceless, living at the whim of the next hiding.

    It seems like a narrative designed explicitly to ensure no solution can be found other than victims. "Men's behaviour must change"

    I'd welcome data or info making my opinion incorrect, and useless. I'll change it then

    I don't know the barba case, the info to form an opinion can't be trusted imo

    Most definitely do not remember these at all. Was this ever acceptable?

    I wouldn't say I disagree with this ... but I'm not sure this topic is related to my main point, which is more about whose real responsibility is the kids?

    Well, they aren't really ... but in other situations, the only household earners aren't built up / made by the paying public, the media and the marketing team of a club.

    I have no idea where that conversation is actually going so I will bring it back to the NRL..... Blake Green has reportedly done his hammy and will miss the preseason. Maybe check on what the Broncos are doing with Kodi NIkorima?

    @Sneakdefreak good man, I was actually beginning to wonder if I was reading the fern or the Stuff comments section.

    Losing Green is a scary thought.

    It's an NRL thread ... surely discussing boofhead behaviour is part and parcel!

    @MajorRage hell yeah! especially when the season hasn't started. I'm wondering how much money they lost at the casino, and if someone was feeling flush and cocky as he'd secured a new contract. In any case I doubt we'll ever hear enough (accurate info) to know why things happened. But the outcome is plain for all to see.

    Green has blown a hammy. Fuck. That is not good news, bloody Cordo and his brutal training regime 🙂 Really hope it's not his kicking (in play, not place kicking) leg. Putting up bombs etc is a great way to tweak it.

    Weeeeell at least this way we get to blood two new halves!! probably more actually. I wonder if this might mean we Tohu in the mix if Green hasn't healed up by the start of the season??

    @Paekakboyz If Green can't go for game one, Hiku will be at standoff.

    It doesn't really matter. This is the Warriors. We had a decent season last year. Meaning this year we are back to bottom 4 territory.

    Robert Jennings, the current best of the Jennings boys, strangely doesn't actually have a contract for 2019.

    Things not looking rosy for Shaunie J - Sharks may have to release him due to serious salary-cap issues.

    Salary cap probe could force Cronulla Sharks to cut star signing Shaun Johnson

    The Warriors have space in their cap and a big whole in the halves. 😉

    Maori v Indigenous Squads

    Indigenous All Stars

    1. Bevan French 2. Blake Ferguson 3. James Roberts 4. Latrell Mitchell 5. Josh Addo-Carr 6. Cody Walker 7. Tyrone Roberts 8. Andrew Fifita 9. Nathan Peats 10. Josh Kerr 11. David Fifita 12. Adam Elliot 13. Tyrone Peachey
      Interchange: 14. Will Chambers 15. Leilani Latu 16. Chris Smith 17. Alex Johnston 18. Jesse Ramien 19. Tyrell Fuimaono 20. Kotoni Staggs

    New Zealand Maori

    1. Peta Hiku 2. Dane Gagai 3. Esan Marsters 4. Dean Whare 5. Jordan Kahu 6. Kalyn Ponga 7. Jahrome Hughes 8. Jesse Bromwich 9. Brandon Smith 10. James Tamou 11. Kevin Proctor 12. Tohu Harris 13. Adam Blair
      Interchange: 14. Danny Levi 15. Brad Takairangi 16. James Fisher-Harris 17. Gerard Beale 18. Corey Harawira-Naera 19. Joseph Tapine 20. Kenny Bromwich

    This game confuses me, so they can use all reserves and apparently there was some kind of voting for selection of the team? @Sneakdefreak can you confirm either of these?

    Anyway, I haven't watched an Indigenous v All Stars game in years, but will be watching this one for obvious reasons.

    @Nepia It's only a pre-season game so I think it's unlimited subs. Fans could vote for the All Stars but I suspect the teams were decided by the NRL clubs themselves.

    You'd think Hiku would be at 6 if the clubs were deciding ....
