@chchfanatic I can't wait to see what we do with that back three this year; the options are almost endless when everyone is fit.

If Havili'i retains his spot then who of Bridge, Dagg, Mataele, Jordan, Punivai and Leicester F will be on the wings? Or let's say Havili'i and/or Ennor spend time in the midfield, what would the back three be then? Excitng stuff given Jordan could be anything, Ennor is quality and has room to improve still, Punivai is largely an unknown quantity as is Leicester F. Some of these guys could run amok.

This is so far removed from two years or so ago when we signed Digby Ioane and I bumped into Hamish Riach at the supermarket and told him "the Super Rugby winger section is over there!"

As for Reece, well, he'd need several injuries and some outstanding form at training and in pre season games to claim a regular season starting spot.

He's had some shocking games on defence for Waikato. The Crusaders will want to be sure he's corrected that before giving him a start at a higher level

It would be cool to see 11. Bridge 14. Ennor & 15. Jordan.
Inexperienced - yes, but that back three just oozes speed and elusiveness. I just want to see Jordan over Havili because I think he could be this era's Christian Cullen.

Agree with 11 and 15.. Don't know who will end up at 14, but am hoping Leicester F (if he's all he's been hyped up to be) or Mataele.

I reckon Havili will end up at 12 (Crotty bound to miss 50% of games and likely to be elsewhere next season).

@SammyC You may end up losing one of that lot as a result of the talent depth. Punivai or Ennor may look elsewhere due to the fact that Goodhue owns that 13 jersey, unless Goodhue makes a shift to 12 post Crotty.

I don’t think punavai will go much higher than NPC having watched him play a bit at school and club level. Was surprised he got a contract.

His younger brother looks more talented to me, also like the look of Dallas McLeod as a future midfielder.

    @SammyC I don't expect we'll see too much of Leicester this season - I think he's a project.

I can't recall whether he got on the park for the Mako this season - but, if he did it wasn't for long.

I guess pre-season form will have a say, but I hope they'll start with 11. Bridge, 14. Jordan, 15. Havili.

However, I'm guessing that Dagg will get first crack in the 14 jersey.

@SammyC Haven't watched too much of Punivai to make a judgement but I feel Ennor could make a fairly handy 13 moving forward. Said he looked up to Conrad Smith in an interview I saw so if he does leave I hope it's to the Canes. 😛

Who is Dallas McLeod? Schools player?

He’s a completely different player to Conrad Smith. More athletic but a lot less smarts. Personally I think he’s a much better winger, however as he matures who knows.

Dallas McLeod played in the Christ’s College first XV in the midfield alongside punavai. Canterbury under 19 last year I think. He’s big, fast and an excellent distributor.

Just thought I’d let everyone know apparently the crusaders are the fittest they’ve been in the 3 years since razor has taken over. They’re super confident they can repeat , have great depth to cover all the all black absences.
Sevu Reece has been killing preseason and could go close to a starting spot. Plenty of competition though. Outside backs to pick out of bridge, havilli , dagg , mataele ,Jordan , Ennor , Leicester F , Punivai. Some crazy depth there

I can confirm Mo'unga was beaten by 1sec in the Bronco test by a Stuff reporter yesterday. Which surely means he'll miss out on the RWC squad this year. Or not.

@chchfanatic Crusaders aren't the only ones hitting new standards. 😃 Makes you think why haven't they been this fit in the past.

Will be in Levin this weekend for the pre season match so I will confirm if these assumptions are correct and will provide a match summary of who performs well etc.

Punivai is an interesting prospect. Tore it up at schools and early age grade levels by all accounts but that didn't translate into his shot at the NPC last year. Yet Razor has seen enough to select him as a Crusader.

As good as Read is, that result doesn’t exactly suggest he’s starting the season at peak condition.

I know he’s never gone under 5 minutes (which is surprising) but he’s miles away on that time. Hopefully he’s a bit fitter by the WC.

@gt12 Scott Barrett's place in the pecking order is pretty impressive - along with Ethan Blackadder - guys playing similar positions to Read.

Though, I'd imagine Kieran is going to be cut a fair amount of slack in preparing himself to peak at RWC!

According to a 2016 tweet by Muarry Kinsella McCaw holds the backrow record at the Crusaders with 4.30, Ellis the record overall at 4.23.

    Interesting.

I read somewhere that McCaw has the record for loosies (4:30) and Ellis leads the whole lot with 4:23.
