@Donsteppa "Toughen up"??? What an idiot comment by the mayor. If you can't fucking see the ball it impacts both the batting and fielding sides and makes play dangerous. It's like driving a car at certain times of the year, the setting sun can be really harsh and blinding. For everyone. Nothing to do with how tough you are.

Perhaps next time they should make the mayor come out and take guard. See how tough he is...

@canefan Yeah, wonder if Mr Tough Guy would have the same opinion after facing an over of 140kph deliveries with the sun in his eyes. Or not even an over. One or two.

I bet you he won't he half as tough as Piers Morgan vs Brett Lee

Think what you want of the guy but that deserves respect

@canefan I watched that, and while I loathe PM, Lee was being a right piston wristed gibbon and bowling it at his body.

Holy shit I'm glad I missed that, what an absolute flogging.

Not convinced batting first is our strength. Would like to see us bowl in the second ODI and try and make the most of any early movement to eek out a couple of early (critical) wickets.

@shark's case against Munro continues to gain momentum, gezz he has poor technique. Seems unlikely to come off against quality opposition.

I don't need to build a case. He keeps embarrassing himself. Is there even a debate now?? Munro needs a hundred or at the very least 85+ in a winning performance next game to save himself surely. Otherwise it's Latham to open and add some more grunt to the middle order to replace Munro's supposed explosiveness.

There was a debate about Munro's technique?

    He's never had one

Never a debate about his technique, just a hope he could become a poor mans McCullum. But it's pretty apparent that even in the shorter forms his technique is so bad it's extremely unlikely he will come off against the big boys.

They may need to reassess after this series. Problem with Latham opening is we probably don't get an explosive start, so pressure will be on the middle-lower order to go very big in the final 10.

I'd like to see Kane open. Doesn't have to smash 6s in the start.. He just needs to hit the gaps and go for boundaries.
Only because I'd like to see Will Young given a shot, batting at 3.

What did you think of Christian Cullen at centre?

@MajorRage Kane has basically been opening with Munro in the squad.
Kane was also very successful, imo, when he was opening in the T20s.

Latham is not the answer as opener.

Almost as bad as the triumvirate of cocks standing at the bowlers end

    Piss poor village venue

Next two matches at NZ's premier one day ground!

I'm going on Saturday - hoping India bat first to avoid what happened yesterday

I think it is sold out too?

If you get a chance, go and get some food from "Big Smoke BBQ Co." as I think they are catering there.

They did for the Sri Lanka matches

Looks like it is sold out - just tried to buy one more ticket.

I had Asian food last time, I'll check out the BBQ

Not as off topic as Manfred Mann

Some consolation available by following the Poms getting butt-fucked in Barbados Rolled for 77 Windies currently 280 odd in front with 10 wickets in hand - still Day 2
