2018 November Internationals

Entertaining nonetheless.

@kiwimurph Have you seen this alternative commentary on the tackle - pure gold
-
You have to put that in context from the original. It’s much funnier.

The commentary by which all others are measured against.

If we are going down the path of national commentators becoming more and more one-sided, then i think we go the whole hog, and go this far.

@mariner4life plenty of the radio comms at NPC games would work well in that respect, or Marshall in the RWC final.
Usually just local guys doing the radio stuff and bias AF, except @Steven-Harris is useless fulla is too professional!!

I would love it "fuck off back across the Kaimais you Waikato scumbags!!"
"where's your jazz hands now Pocock? aye? You're copping another beating!"

I really liked the radio commentary this year (SR and M10) where Corey Flynn and Kane Hames were co-commentators. Didn't hear any bias from them, just really good expert comments ... including on what goes on in the scrums :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_closed_eyes:

@taniwharugby haha..!,to impartial..!

The biggest surrprise for me from the November Internationals was how good some of the NH scrums were again. Repaired their reputations again in my eyes after the 'damage' caused by seeing Lions struggling v SR franchises last year. Biggest surprise of all was the English scrum after losing Marler and Vunipola. Biggest disappointment was the NZ scrum.

It's the Sky UK and Irish commentators who are the worst - biased, inept and frankly embarrassing to listen to. Don't mind Marshall as he gets as enthusiastic with great tries from other teams as he does with the ABs
The BBC's Andrew Cotter is excellent. He's clear, intelligent and as unbiased as I have heard. He also covers Wimbledon, Athletics, Golf and Olympics. Martin Bayfield doesn't seem to do much media work but his analysis during RWC2015 was superb.
Also think the Saffa commentators Pierce and Joel Stranky are pretty good.

I don't get the Harrison/Barnes hate at all. Have absolutely no problem with them as a team. They talk a bit of shit, but name me a commentary team that doesn't. Harrison cheerleads a bit for England, but so what? No more than any other team.
Safa commentators are probably the most balanced. Irish are the least.

I think the Irish ones work on the basis that no one else other than Irish viewers are listening as normally other commentators from other countries cover the broadcast. So when the occasional match crops up on shared broadcast they sound just awful. The worst pair being Ryle Nugent and ex-international, Donal Lenihan, who is rank.

@derm-mccrum to be fair, the first time I heard them I was blown away (tour vs Aus this year) as they just constently were calling for penalties / YC in their favour. Almost at every breakdown.
Then I didn't think they were so bad vs us. Yet others on here do. Maybe I got used to them!

Oh don't worry, I thought the Aussies commentators were equally as bad. The Fiddle-dee-dee potatoes remark from one guy was just embarrassing. For him. I just laughed.

Really? All bloody Harrison can say is” and here is x player doing what he does so well”. Rinse, repeat ad nauseum.

Beats the shit out of Justin Marshall or Scott Stevenson in my view. Each to their own.

Luckily I don’t have to listen to those two swabs too often. I was watching the highlights of an old early 90s game yesterday that was commentated by Nigel Starmer-Smith who, IMO was not fit to lace Bill McClaren’s drinks but by fuck he was a lot better than most of today’s blowhards.
