I was just reading this in the newspaper. Like him, or loathe him, Danny has a good gig.

@chris-b tough marker, fair bit of reverse first ball up. I can't condemn a man on that ball. Then again Ish did what you describe to a similar next ball

@bovidae i played in a tournament with him in Shanghai years ago. He's quite fun to have around actually, ( not as fun as Mike Witney though).

@siam I reckon a better batsman than Colin would have patted that "unplayable" delivery harmlessly back down the pitch.

Colin's tour of the U.A.E. hasn't been spectacular with bat in hand....
    1,6,4,6,0,3,0

20 off 7 ... be alright if the second number was (the more usual) balls rather than innings

I've just found over the years that people like Tendulkar, Lara, Williamson etc tend to receive a lot less unplayable balls than lesser batsmen! ๐Ÿ™‚

@mn5 is Morrison a dumb dumb when it comes to cricket laws? Maybe Marshall is in the Morrison mould.

I enjoy listening to Danny. His style doesnโ€™t work for a lot of people, but after listening to certain NZ rugby commentators having a whine about the rules, itโ€™s always good to hear someone who sounds like he just loves the game that heโ€™s paid to commentate on.

I've had a tough day piling. This is too cryptic for me

Danny is nothing like Marshall. Danny is super optimistic, doesn't whinge about the rules, and generally backs the umpire instead of trying to make bigs calls on any of the more controversial calls. He also doesn't do over the top cheerleading for the opposition in an attempt to appear unbiased.

He's pretty light on any kind of in depth analysis, but TBH none of the commentators around the world are exactly insightful - I get far better insights on here.

Smart stumping by Watling, Ajaz Patel has his second wicket, and Pakistan 195/7.

Only five of this Black Caps team was born in New Zealand. Is this the fewest ever for NZ in a test match?

    Raval - born Gujarat, India
Watling - born Durban, South Africa
De Grandhomme - born Harare, Zimbabwe
    Sodhi - born Ludhiana, India
Wagner - born Pretoria, South Africa
    Patel - born Mumbai, India

Cool stat. Once upon a time that would have invoked an involuntary (and never thought through),"you fucken what?".

Kane runs a happy ship. The bowling and most fielding has been all about persistence and concerted effort today and the Pakis haven't blown the game away like many in the past .

Tea with 2 wickets to get and every run is sacred, 72 runs deficit. New ball 1 over old

Good game, hopefully all hinging on our 2nd innings

The three best players are real kiwis though.

Great comeback to only be trailing by 18 runs and one wicket after the first innings debacle - though we could really have done without Tom Latham getting bowled first ball.

Need our batsman all to do a lot better than they did in the first innings.

Ross Taylor's turn to be a lesser batsman today ๐Ÿ˜‰

@siam Ahh - haven't been watching, but they've abandoned the script I drafted for them and we're left with a bunch of guys to bat who are likely to find quite a few unplayable deliveries! ๐Ÿ˜

Were building along beautifully, then bang 3 wickets from nowhere.

    From 30 for 2 to 44 for 4 effectively

Bj and Henry to save the weekend...

@siam I switched over and literally next ball BJ was out lbw - but then he reviewed and he wasn't.

I think I should take that as a warning shot! ๐Ÿ™‚

Useful work from BJ and Nicholls - they got us to nearly 150 ahead and four wickets down, but when Henry got out...well, there was another handy 3 from CdG and then the tail didn't wag.
