PS I'm new to the forum so sorry if it's not acceptable posting links like this.
Its not a problem
I've merged this thread with a conversation from a couple of weeks ago.. similar concerns were raised in the old thread

1 big issue with JK's idea is number of games you are going to ask the All Blacks to play. Copying Europe is heading in totally the wrong direction from a player welfare point of view.

@kirwan
A lot of heat for my beloved Highlanders, but while the playing numbers are low, the spectator numbers are high.Here's a quote from an ODT article.
*The Highlanders said in a statement yesterday that across the five Super Rugby franchises, it had the highest average attendance.
The Highlanders averaged a crowd of 15,667 last season, with seven games played under the roof at the stadium.*
So how about fans of these northern sides actually turn up and watch their teams play?
-
Wrong, the Canes crowds averaged around the 17000 mark so i'm not sure where you go those figures from.

@southernmann This is probably a better reflection. https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/super-rugby/104613809/new-zealand-super-rugby-crowds-good-but-south-africa-australia-on-life-support
-
@canes4life why is 2017 a better reflection than 2018?
-
I call bullshit on the Highlanders having better crowds than the Canes and Crusaders in 2018. I attended all Canes games at the Tin and the crowds ranged from 15000-25000.
-
@canes4life oh right. Well is there much point in us getting any news from anywhere apart from you then? I mean, obviously 2017 figures mean more than 2018 figures if we're talking about 2018. What was I thinking?
-
@bones It shows the trend heading into 2018. So they go from declining by 20% in crowd figures in 2017, to miraculously turning that around to become the best represented franchise in NZ for crowd figures in 2018. yeaaah right. Believe what you like but those figures are bullshit. I don't believe any article that quotes statements without backing it up with facts.
-
@canes4life a high appreciation for irony, I get it now.
-
@machpants still think that Highlanders figure is bull.
-
@canes4life Well opinions are like .... everyone has one

So getting back to this 15000-25000 figure....

Because it suits his argument. And we know Canes supporters love living in the past anyway...

Fair play, if they are true it just shows how inviting having a roof is.
