@taniwharugby So the "unlucky" extras are Aumua, O’Neill, Hall and Havili. Havili possibly the unluckiest one, because he actually is a test-capped player and had an excellent season, but yeah, Jordie is in "the" squad and apparently they don't need proper midfield cover (in the reserves or elsewhere in the starting XV).

@stargazer It was going to be Havili or Bridge in the reserves, not both. I would have went for the former as he can cover midfield.

@stargazer I felt Havili was poor during Super Rugby. Not as good as he was last year.

Papalii starting 7 and not Hunt. That's the right call. Bidwell wrong again.

@bovidae I'd hoped for Naholo on the right wing, Bridge on the left, Havili on the bench, and NMS sent to the MABs.

@akan004 Only the first part of the season, when he seemd short of confidence, but he was massive on defence and support play all season. He improved steadily during the season and after the June break, was as good as he was last year.

Apart from Perry, the players used during the season as injury replacements are all starting. Coltman ahead of Aumua for the same reason, but Coles was always going to start.

@bovidae Yeah, I know. I just find it odd. If Laumape goes down, I suppose Jordie will move to 12; if Proctor goes down, they'll move either Naholo or Jordie to centre. I just don't think that's a good idea. Except for his lack in experience at test level, I think Bridge is currently much better than NMS.

Not to those of us who thought he was lucky to be there in the first place.

Havili's stocks have dropped, from test player last year to almost Akira rated this year.

haha just listening to RS and Goran is like 'coming up on the show we have 2 test AB James Parsons, and as we have a number of guys in this team named who will likely not play again for the ABs, we can ask him what thats like'

Is this the first time that the starting forward pack doesn't have any Crusaders player in it?

And the starting XV has only one?

Going to the bench late in the game for experience just got a lot harder..

Yeah, Richie to play 77 minutes.
But some starters are as green as the bench options, like Ta’avao, Papali'i, TTT and Proctor.

I thoguht it looked a decent side - not strong, but possibly more of an issue that they only met each ohter a few days ago

I had a feeling they might look to play Ofa at LH.

Will be pretty interesting to see how he gets on there. I don't recall him there since he became a decent scrummager.

In any case I'm pleased, because I really wanted to see Tyrel Lomax get some time, rather than RON. Lomax gave Moody plenty to think about in the Mako/Cantab semifinal.

I'll tell y'all what though - if this game is tight at the 60 minute mark, we're in some trouble!

Edit: Japan only paying $21 now!

@nzzp yeah that's my thoughts, the blossoms have had a game together and this team is a real mish mash, with no experienced backstop. A few Jordie special brain fart type events, and they'll struggle to get back in it imo

Went OK against the Lions for the Blues last year. Can't remember him playing Loosehead since then though.

Drummond possibly getting the nod because he played M10 Cup with Cameron?
