How was that not a penalty for deliberate knock down
Because knock down is not a penalty? And anyway, he knocked it up (and forwards).

That one was about as blatant as you see.

@tim crowd not that big,I doubt wether it’s 4,000..
Here’s a legitimate question.
Would it be better to stay in the championship division as the Ranfurly Sheild holders where you would play at least 3 championship teams and 2 Premiership division teams or get promoted to the premiership division and based on what I have seen of the 2 semifinals last week, battle yours arses off to starve off relegation..? -
@stargazer absolutely totally agree,Otago and Hawkes Bay have had their moments in the championship, but Waikato from round 4 have been sensational,be interesting to see if they will go to the market to bolster their roster..!

If you asked me at the start of the year if I would have preferred that Waikato won the RS but stayed in the Championship or got promoted to the Premiership I would take the latter. Losing the RS still grates as Waikato should have won that game. You can bet the first Premiership team selecting an away game vs a Championship team will be taking Otago.
It is disappointing that Gibbes is only here for one season but at least he has had a positive impact. The challenge will be for Waikato to be competitive next season and that will start with the coaches. Continuity is needed so the best option is to promote Randle to head coach and find a replacement backs coach, and keep White as the forwards coach.
Anyway, stoked with the win.

How big is the crowd?
Slightly bigger than some recent Waikato crowds ive seen. Perhaps 7k?
Probably about right.
It's hard to know the exact crowd number as the majority sit in the Perry Stand but the cameras are on the WEL Network Stand, where I was sitting. The weather was perfect for a night game.

Hoping Coltman pings a hamstring so there is no chance he gets to represent in Black this year
Without knowing a back story, that appears some spiteful, catty shit right there.

Saving me from my inner Pavlov
But who cares if he knocked it up? It was deliberately knocked forward/on. As someone mentioned it was as blatant as you get.

Indeed. @Stockcar86 care to elaborate?

First time I've actually heard McWhannell's name out loud in the commentary in this match.
I have been saying that name inside my head with a Maori "Fa" rather than English (well, Irish actually) "Wh"
McFannell.
Now, Mac Wanell, just sounds really weird to me.

Browsing through the Chiefs squad guide. This caught my eye in the coaches profiles.
2019 will be Strawbridge’s eighth season with the Gallagher Chiefs but after securing the Head Coach role for Waikato for 2019, his focus will shift to Head Coach of the Chiefs Development Team & Chiefs U20’s.
