    Very cool statistic

The sides have played a total of 101 times with the honours split straight down the middle at 48 wins apiece and 5 draws.

Final ride for blue and whites in 2018

Final ride for blue and whites in 2018

Auckland name an unchanged starting XV from the semi-final against Wellington Leon Fukofuka and Daniel Kirkpatrick ...

    1 Sam Prattley (Pakuranga)
    2 Robbie Abel (College Rifles)
    3 Marcel Renata (University)
    4 Fa’atiga Lemalu (Papatoetoe)
    5 Michael Fatialofa (Ponsonby)
    6 Evan Olmstead (Suburbs)
    7 Adrian Choat (Waitemata)
    8 Akira Ioane (Ponsonby)
    9 Jonathan Ruru (University)
    10 Harry Plummer (Grammar TEC)
    11 Salesi Rayasi (Marist)
12 TJ Faiane – Captain (Pakuranga)
    13 Tumua Manu (College Rifles)
    14 Melani Nanai (Manukau Rovers)
    15 Jordan Trainor (Ponsonby)

    16 Mike Sosene-Feagai (Mt Wellington)
    17 Jarred Adams (Suburbs)
    18 Marco Fepulea’i (Ponsonby)
    19 Taleni Seu (Grammar TEC)
    20 Hoskins Sotutu (Marist)
    21 Leon Fukofuka (Marist)
    22 Daniel Kirkpatrick (University)
    23 Caleb Clarke (Suburbs)

Auckland have named an unchanged starting XV from the one that took the field against Wellington in the semi-final with the only changes to the matchday-23 coming in the reserves with Leon Fukofuka and Daniel Kirkpatrick coming in for Desma Liaina and Jacob Umaga respectively

Unavailable due to injury: Waimana Riedlinger-Kapa (wrist), Taniela Koroi (arm – season), Blake Gibson (quad – season), Lyndon Dunshea (shoulder – season), Tanielu Tele’a (knee – season), Jack Whetton (ankle – season)

With a team like that and free home crowd advantage and SGH in the coaches box, it really is Auckland’s to lose

It says showers, like it does most days, the forecast seems to change on a regular basis. Will make a judgement call on the day 🙂

Forecast is looking slightly better now.. metservice has the rain arriving a couple of hours after the game

Nice try. With all those All Blacks in the Canterbury team it is Canterbury's to lose.

Auckland's best player can't even make the biggest AB squad ever....

    Weather Forecasts

There's a shed load of rain rolling in from the west. May arrive at or soon after kickoff, but it's going to get wet sometime.

Timing is to hard this far out... An hour each way makes a massive difference

it's the weekend, why check? it'll rain for sure.

i still vividly remember the 80s and early 90s where every single person not from Auckland would want Canterbury to win this. How the worm has turned...

A free rugby final in a classic match-up. It’s a risky move. Over to you, Aucklanders

A domestic rugby final at NZ's most famous ground, and it's free to all. This could be the start of something, writes Scott Stevenson

Final will be an odd experience I think, given every neutral fan is going to be cheering for Auckland. When's that happened before?

    Great minds ...

Which is why players making 50 or 100 appearances for a province are getting rarer and rarer.

@duluth back when George Moala was a beast. Was a decent game with a lot of talent on both sides.
