Free entry a magnanimous gesture but can't help but think they've devalued their product, or, "product" to, well, zero. "It's worthless, just come in." Can see next year punters saying "why should I pay at the gate for this regular game when the big final was free? Why have they decided to charge now for something they deemed as worthless before?"
It will probably have a good impact on vendors at the ground. Didn’t pay for tickets, I’ll spend plenty on food, drinks etc.
The other thing is the fear of people staying home because the ABs test match is on around straight after - so another great marketing ploy to show the test at the ground after the final.

@act-crusader although Justin Marshall on the ground PA commentary is a drawback.

S.M.A.R.T!!!
That is a massive carrot, so long as they keep there bars open as well.

With a team like that and free home crowd advantage and SGH in the coaches box, it really is Auckland’s to lose

It says showers, like it does most days, the forecast seems to change on a regular basis. Will make a judgement call on the day
Forecast is looking slightly better now.. metservice has the rain arriving a couple of hours after the game

Nice try. With all those All Blacks in the Canterbury team it is Canterbury's to lose.
Auckland's best player can't even make the biggest AB squad ever....

There's a shed load of rain rolling in from the west. May arrive at or soon after kickoff, but it's going to get wet sometime.
Timing is to hard this far out... An hour each way makes a massive difference

It's Auckland so best to check the forecast tomorrow morning.
it's the weekend, why check? it'll rain for sure.
i still vividly remember the 80s and early 90s where every single person not from Auckland would want Canterbury to win this. How the worm has turned...
