    NZ Rugby and Waikato Rugby statement on Sevu Reece

    Monday, 15 October, 2018

    New Zealand Rugby and Waikato Rugby have concluded a misconduct hearing with Waikato player Sevu Reece following his discharge without conviction for a domestic assault earlier this year.

    New Zealand Rugby Head of Professional Rugby Chris Lendrum said while the misconduct process was a confidential employment process, in the interests of transparency, Reece and NZR had agreed to some details being released.

    "Sevu has accepted responsibility for the situation, is remorseful and is undertaking a suite of counselling and help programmes. He was suspended for one match, a sanction he served when he was not part of Waikato’s Ranfurly Shield match against Otago on Saturday.

    "We continue to encourage Sevu as he seeks to make improvements in his life. Sevu has also asked to be taken out of consideration for the Duane Monkley Medal, awarded to the best Mitre 10 Cup player of the year," Lendrum said. Any future employment with rugby in New Zealand would be dependent on him completing the help programmes, Lendrum said.

    As part of the misconduct process, all parties have agreed that no further comment on this matter will be made.

    yea, we missed a lot. Delaney would have helped, but not to the extent that pushes us up the ladder. We were fucking ordinary.

    @mariner4life dunno, what I'd of given for a 10 of his quality last season, I reckon he'd of made all the difference to our erratic team...this year we are a different kind of erratic.

    @nepia Unless he gets to officiate one of the M10 Cup finals, it looks like his first job will be Italy v Georgia on 10 November.

    only $4.40 in a multi if you take all 4 favorites in M10 Cup

    $55.10 if all visiting teams win...about $5.60 if you swap out either Ta$man/Auckland for Canterbury/Wellington

    @bovidae That disgusts me.

    However, the Shield no longer symbolizes anything very significant to me.
