@paekakboyz got that from a good source,he was not the only one,Nani Laumape was the other player,he’s probably a bit more fortunate that we don’t have a ton of midfield cover..

FFS. Akira has CLEARLY somehow ran afoul of the No Dickheads test

    Let's review Shag's selection notes:

    Loose Forwards:

Reado and Ardie: always going to pick these two:
Dick Frizzle: injured (RSI bum splinters from Landers bench. could've happened to anyone)

Luke Whitelock: a cantab so must be a good bloke. On tour it's all about having good blokes around that I can relate to. I can't relate to that huge terrifying hua from Auckland. He scares me. Holding up mauls by himself, all that frightening rugby stuff, gah, no thank you.
Dalton Papalii: 21 and uncapped? fuckit still seems like a better bloke than that scary bully boy "Akira" (sp?) dickhead from Auckland.
Matt Todd: gave the fuck up and went to Japan. That Akira fella didn't give up and go to Japan oops hang on, shot my own argument in the foot there, scribble that part out if you wouldn't mind thanks Fozzie
Jackson Hemopo: all these Highlanders. So many I get mixed up!
Gareth Evans: 27 year old journeyman. ANOTHER Highlander! Something must be really brewing down there!
Dillon Hunt: did fuckall for the landers in soup rugby. Nice lad though. Not like that Akira fella. Can't stand that guy.
Vaea Fifita: called me a "fucking liar" and confessed he "hates doing rugby work". fuckit I still like the guy better than I like Akira, who, incidentally, I fucking hate.
Liam Squire: flat track bully who gets injured the minute he plays against big boys. At least he has a mullet. Akira? No mullet. Another black mark next to this "Akira" fellas name.

or the less controversial and slightly boring - Akira got given his KPI's that he needs to improve on, and has completely failed to do so. And in doing so has proven to the coaches that he doesn't want to be there.. thus also putting him into the dickhead pile.

I can't stand LW either - but i did have to laugh the other day when i was at a presso taken by none other than my "fav" invisible man / rugby player Ruebs Thorne (Phooey - wherever you are i thought of you)... and the first slide they put up was why they'd always pick Whitelock ahead of Ioane.
Anyway obviously Akiras 'attacking' stats were good.. but the rest were mud

@nepia Interestingly, I suspect Havili is mainly as midfield cover.

Anyway, it's good that Luke Whitelock isn't in the main squad, as he's so fucking far off test level. Worst selection of the year. Absolute plodder.

Didn't some bloke on here do a play-by-play of a stag weekend for the 3rd AB-France test in Dunedin this year and mention Akira at the pub buying up a heap of drinks?

That was the last time Akira was around the AB squad....

@chris-b was the All Blacks training camp directly after super was completed,..as for Auckland trainings and games..who knows..?.
I still reckon though even as player I just wish he would just look to go forwards as opposed to show everyone how strong you are by waiting for the tacklers to come to you..
What the hell is that all about...?

If Frizzell is the future 6 for the next year until the world cup, then its a bit of a disaster* that he is missing this tour through injury.

    That boy needs experience.

    . * It fucking is!

Just reporting back as have now come out of hungover state.

Rugby was great. Didn't view the whole game and can over only a few MVP votes.

First off....the stag on the stag doo. He didn't know anything about the trip, got picked up thursday from auck flown to chch had a night out. Friday we had a pub crawl road trip to Dunedin (he thought it was to Q-town as he thought he got inside word from someone). When we got to Dunedin he was that gone he thought we were in Qtown.
MVP's of the Friday: 3 Points: Random Maori guy at the pub in Ashburton doing 'magic tricks' for everyone including smoking a dobbie with his nostril.
2 points: Akira Ioane: Loved shouting pretty much the whole bar (was out with Laumape....both proving great team culture before a game).
1: The girl we got kicked out for being too thirsty and walking up to everyone in our group and trying to get them to go home with her (literally her first words).

Saturday: 10am beers followed by Hens party dancing lesson at stilitos for the stag and lappy after. Back to studentville for some backyard and drinking on the street then Octy and then rugby.
Stag did well with his '4 more years banner' Wallabies jersey and face painted jumping up anytime anyone scored.
MVP points: 3: The only hot stripper I think Dunedin has ever had
2: Goodhue and the other guys on debut still wearing their All Blacks Caps out in town (mention to him for looking like it was getting him a couple of birds)
1: Akira, again at the bar on Saturday buying big rounds. Recognised me off my face and chucked a drink my way.

On the bright side. For the inevitable 10 minutes we spend every test playing with 14 men, it's a consolation that when we take off our 6 he is currently our weakest link, as opposed to the peak Kaino years..

Frizzell has a should injury, apparently.

Shannon has worn the Ta$man No. 8 jersey this season, so he was always going to be fucked!

Only Ethan Blackadder can touch that jersey with impunity!

Worrying thing is that Squire might need to play for Ta$man before the tour, so he may as well be booked in for surgery now.

So Blackadder might yet get on a Japan-bound plane? 🙂

@chris-b No Hodgman is not injured, he played 70 minutes in the Canterbury Taranaki game, and was rested in the Counties game. I was expecting him to get the nod.

Congratulations to Dalton Papali'i. Great to see his hard work rewarded. A wonderful opportunity for him to now become a mainstay of the All Blacks backrow for the next decade or so

I'm delighted to see Matt Todd there and that something could be worked out to get him in the All Blacks squad.

Surprised about the non-inclusion of Shannon Frizell. Is he injured? I guess they see Vaea Fifita as a like for like replacement.

In the backs,. SBW stays. I hope he repays the selectors remarkable faith in him and his circus. Apart from that the main squad looks pretty much spot on.

@number9 Alex Hodgman? Yeah - if he's not injured then he must have gone close, I'd think.
