I dont think anyone thinks the slater tackle is malicous , but under the letter of the law he may find himself in trouble ,

here in AFL land melbourne , locals are scratching their heads saying ,

are you kidding , he may miss a GF for that , isnt Rugby ( both codes are rugby here ) supposed to be a tough mans game .

That is classed as a fair bump in AFL .

Yeah. But class tackling around the legs as the most incredibly dangerous thing in the world.

Blimey, just watched the last 3 minutes of the NSW Cup GF. Bulldogs beat the Jets 18-12.
Don’t know how anyone could watch the whole thing though. It would have played too much havoc on my eyes with both having the same shade of blue with white for their playing kit.

Struggled with last nights game even as a roosters supporter

They derserved the win out of the two teams on the field but not much to like about it other than the defensive effort.

Surely Cronk is doubtful for the GF but at least Mitchell will be back so will have a capable kicker back in the team. Napa back too.

Wow bunnies....not a lot to brain cells between a lot of those guys. Not sure if they had a plan b because plan a really wasn’t working for them last night

Mason Lino is released by Warriors and signs with Newcastle which the Knights then do one of those campy American sports signing videos.

Now looking like both Isaac Luke and Jazz Tevaga will sign one-year deals with the Warriors.

and Luke will need an injury-free barnstorming season to convince anyone to sign him for a bigger or longer term deal. Which isn't a bad thing! Wonder if he is reflecting on how his first two seasons went now...

Hope Lino has success with Newcastle, but not the knock the Warriors out of the 8 in 2019 kind of success!!

I lost count how many times the commentators said during both SFs that player x had signed for Newcastle for next season.

They must be having a huge overhaul in their roster.

First time I've seen the Billy Slater "shoulder charge".

I'm not a league fan or a Slater fan but fuck that for any ban. That's not a shoulder charge. Seriously.

The definition of a shoulder charge is “where a defender does not use, or attempt to use, his arms (including his hands) to tackle or otherwise take hold of the opposing player and the contact is forceful. It will be considered misconduct, if any player affects a tackle in the manner as defined.”

Reckon there might be enough evidence in this photo to suggest there was an attempt to use the arm

Billy Slater has been found not guilty of a shoulder charge and is free to play in the Grand Final and win the Clive Churchill Medal.

This was entirely predictable. The worst part was the theater making him attend a hearing.

I’ve just been watching El Chapo on Netflix.
The NRL are almost as good as the Mexican Government at conjuring up corrupt story lines that are believable.

I watched NRL 360 last night. It was interesting to hear Josh Reynolds speak about using the same lawyer (Ghabar) previously, and how meticulous he was with finding evidence to prove their case. He got off too!

So shoulder charges are ok again as long as you use the flailing arm away from the shoulder impact...guess the Billy Slater defence could be a go now?

looks a long way away from the front on shoulder charges they used to have - braced shoulders, and the trailing arm nowhere near. If you are at least getting your other arm nearby, you can't put nearly as much energy into it.

He's not using his right arm in an attempt to tackle or push, it's raised because of the combined action of sprinting over and bracing for impact.

Bullshit decision but totally expected. I did laugh at the fact the NRL 'prosecutor' was meant to come up with ways that Billy should have effected the tackle. I guess that was part of the lawyers strategy, put the onus on the NRL to provide a 'viable' alternative so they could poke holes in it.

Nah, I'd rather they lose the game at the death in rare and humiliating fashion. Shades of Billy handing us the World Cup?
