2018 Jock Hobbs Memorial National U19 Tournament

That’s a sensational BOP try..!
-
@stargazer Frost apparently is 2.05 metres,I wonder if he is gonna make himself available not just the Saders but also the ABs..
-
@steven-harris Yeah, that will be interesting. I wonder when he came to NZ. Before the 1st of January, and the residency period is 3 years; if he can after, it's 5 years.
-
What a finish!
-
@stargazer that’s some BOP team, good luck holding on to those boys..!

I was busy doing other things so only watched bits and pieces of the final. When BOP got that late penalty I thought they'll win it and then I came back to seeing the intercept try to finally seal the game. I'll have to watch a replay/highlights to see the frantic final 5 mins.
-
Watching that game I was a little underwhelmed. Although it was a good game I thought I wld have seen more dominant players. Both these teams smashed their oppositions up until this point!
I watch s lot of schools and 19s and was very interested in seeing the BOP team. Outside Trask and the 14 not sure is others showed enough.
Canterbury mYbe Burke, Garden-bachop, frost or newell.
Also Waikato game Dyer played well but thought Alaimalo wld have dominated more. You know at u20s WC you need guys who absolutely dominate at this level. -
@98blueandgold
I was watching Alaimalo closely too. He seemed to be playing tighter than I expected. Alaimalo didn't start either of the previous 2 games so perhaps he was carrying an injury.Any ideas on the likely no.7? Mua? From what I've seen we have plenty of 6/8s but Christie was a big step down from Papali'i the year before.
-
@bovidae not sure on Mua. His bro is better imo. Think Nico Jones will be 7 for 20s next year looking at this crop. Lots of 20s prospects playing ITM or inj. Backs will be good Fakatava, Tealea, Faaninuku, Trask, Clarke. Nanai etc
Flanders back and front row of Cobb, Wellington prop who played 20s (forgot name) HB hooker. Locks and 6,7 need work -
@98blueandgold frost can’t play nz20s. Doesn’t qualify on residency. Connor Gordon , Sam Gilbert and Cullen Grace from Lincoln all played really well for div 1 this year and all filled out the nz20s nomination form. I would’ve thought anyone at 19s tournament could still make 20s though.

Tupaea was an injury replacement for the U20s so add him to that list. He's only just turned 19.
