@nepia Change made
I guess it also depends if he impressed Plumtree in camp this year.Re: Flanders. I think one of his issues will be getting gametime in the NPC - he's got Evans and Tu'u ahead of him. But yep he looks class, but so did Boswell-Wakefield at U20s level and he went no where.
-
@tim as a Centre. The problem with the Blues is they haven't found a classic "Smith/Nonu match" in the centres and the makeup of their backline always looks disjointed. Having Lowe at Centre will give them that Proctor type player who has the nous both on attack and defense - could be a perfect option with his speed and distribution skills to really unlock the Blues potential out wide. SBW, Leger, Tele'a and Manu are all similar to those that they have picked in the past. Expect the same results if they go with those four.
-
@nepia He is still very young so will probably make more cameos off the bench this year than starting opportunities. He just seems like a smart footballer and seems to make great decisions with ball in hand. Who knows, the Crusaders picked Read when he was a young fella, so the Canes may give him a crack. Hugh Renton was probably another guy that didn't reach his potential and promised alot out of college.

@carnage I don't know if you've done it deliberately to raise @Stargazer's ire, but you're missing Jonah Lowe. You best add him even if you put the ?? after him.
Also, we know Fakatava and Flanders are going to wind up elsewhere - the Canes are adverse to young Magpies talent.
I don't take posts that seriously if they come from someone who has joined the Fern in the last few hours, has contributed only 6 posts and starts making big statements about "young talent that have all but committed" to the Canes.
-
@stargazer Has he just joined the Fern though? Seriously though what is the point at Lowe staying at the Canes, he would be better off at the Blues where he will atleast get more minutes and a chance to show how talented you think he is.

Yeah, it would be good if they picked him up, but you'll understand why I'm not confident that will happen by looking at where HB players usually wind up at Super level, and it isn't in Wellington most of the time.
Renton may have kicked on (and may still in Wellington) if not for constant injury and personal circumstances.
-
@nepia But when you look at options in that position from a Wellington point of few, there aren't many. Loose forward stocks are quite slim with most of the down at the Highlanders, therefore I think he is a safe bet and i'm confident history won't repeat itself. Or we might do something stupid and sign Thomas Waldrom instead.

No one would be better off at the Blues. I'd rather see him join the Chiefs (they have to fill some vacancies) or Highlanders (taking Buckman's spot if the latter doesn't return). Maybe even Crusaders, although they'll probably fill their remaining spots from within the region.

@stargazer @stargazer you obviously didn't get my private message. If you must know the man, the myth, the legend - Canes4life is back (under a new name). Only reason I am not using that account is I don't have access because of email issues a while back - so if someone can help reset my password for that account that would be super.
-
@stargazer Probs a fair point re joining the Blues. You get the drift though, he is down the pecking order at the Canes and would probably be better off looking elsewhere. I've met Jonah and he seems like a good kid - I wish him all the best if he does end up moving franchise.

I'm asking Father Christmas for a tight 5 for the Canes this Christmas. I think I might once again be disappointed in my presents.
-
@wreck-diver The truth hurts. You could probably refine that to two props and two locks.
-
@canes4life who are our locks? the only one i can think of for next year is 5 Sam Lousi
-
@wreck-diver Sam Lousi, Isaia Walker-Leawere, Liam Mitchell and a pending 2.08m Safa lock weighing in at 140kg. Can't wait.

Only if the guy can run at that weight. He will need a mobility cart to kept up.
-
Yeah I can't see Plumtree finding someone that size anyway, unless he locks in Will Skelton.
Isaia Walker-Leawere looks promising but still a tad green. Also we have the option of re-signing the injury prone Geoff Cridge who will make his return for the Bay soon.
-
@canes4life Fuck Will Skelton we are not that desperate. He's the biggest suitcase ever. The Aussie need to fix their line out they should bring him back he's such a good jumper. :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_smiling_eyes:
