    @stargazer

I want to see Goosen at 2nd and Proctor outside him too see how it goes. But it will be a competitive midfield battle to see who starts at 2nd (Proctor as captain will be the main starter at center)

Lam and Ranata will likely start with maybe Filipo. With JGB and Va'a options at first. I hope to see Price have a run at HB maybe initially as a replacement

How would Fidow go as a LH with Jeff Toomaga-Allen available now?

@winger Too bad, Mo'unga didn't start in that game, but Brett Cameron. Wellington's backs were firing against a weak, lacklustre Canterbury defence in the middle of Canterbury's "3 games in 8 days" part of the competition. Cantebury also seemed a bit complacent after their monster scores the previous games. It was a great win from Wellington, though.

I've compared the lists of Super Rugby players with the Mitre 10 Cup squads and all Mitre 10 Cup squads.

Of all SR players, Scott Scrafton, Jimmy Tupou, Sam McNicol, Vince Aso, Harrison Allan and Ben Funnell have not been named in a Mitre 10 Cup squad due to injury. However, there are several players, who have been named in Mitre 10 Cup squads despite being injured, and they may get little or no game time. Reggie Goodes has retired from rugby entirely, while Wyatt Crockett has retired from SR, but will still play Mitre 10 Cup.

On top of that, there are 3 SR players, who will first play Mitre 10 Cup and then head overseas: Toni Pulu, Michael Fatialofa and Seta Tamanivalu. 24 other SR players will head overseas straight away, temporarily (returning to SR in 2019) or permanently, with one of those (Pete Samu) playing test rugby.

I may have missed a few names (please, let me know), but the following lists of players from the 2018 All Blacks Sevens, 2018 New Zealand U20s and 2017 New Zealand Schools teams have been named in Mitre 10 Cup teams (there's some overlap between these lists):

    2018 All Blacks Sevens
    Caleb Clarke - Auckland
Trael Joass - Bay of Plenty
    Vilimoni Koroi - Otago
    Sione Molia - Counties Manukau
    Etene Nanai-Seturo - Counties Manukau
    Jona Nareki - Otago
    Joe Ravouvou - Auckland
    Salesi Rayasi - Auckland
Bailey Simonsson - Bay of Plenty

    2018 New Zealand U20s
Caleb Clarke - Auckland (and Blues)
Harry Plummer - Auckland (and Blues)
    Waimana Riedlinger-Kapa - Auckland
Hoskins Sotutu - Auckland (and Blues)
Tanielu Tele'a - Auckland (and Blues)
Tevita Mafileo - Bay of Plenty
Kaleb Trask - Bay of Plenty
    Tom Christie - Canterbury
    Ngane Punivai - Canterbury
    Suetena Asomua - Counties Manukau
    Devan Flanders - Hawke's Bay
    Will Tremain - Hawke's Bay
    Scott Gregory - Northland
    Vilimoni Koroi - Otago
    Jay Renton - Southland
    Flynn Thomas - Southland
    Tom Florence - Taranaki
    Xavier Roe - Taranaki
    Leicester Fainga'anuku - Ta$man
Jamie Spowart - Ta$man WTG (injury cover)
    Laghlan McWhannell - Waikato
Bailyn Sullivan - Waikato (and Chiefs)
    Quinn Tupaea - Waikato
    Xavier Numia - Wellington
    Billy Proctor - Wellington
    Pasi Uluilakepa - Wellington WTG

    2017 NZ Schools
    Etene Nanai-Seturo - Counties Manukau
    Devan Flanders - Hawke's Bay
    Lincoln McClutchie - Hawke's Bay
    Josiah Tavita-Metcalfe - Hawke's Bay
    Danny Toala - Hawke's Bay
    Kini Naholo - Taranaki
    Tupou Vaa’i - Taranaki
    Leicester Fainga'anuku - Ta$man
    Quinn Tupaea - Waikato

@kiwimurph Thanks, yes, I had that in the full list. Only posted the last bit.

I wonder whether, by the end of the season, more of these U20s players will end up in a SR squad.

@stargazer problem is, how many spots are available?

Wasnt there an article several weeks back saying the Chiefs were all but full for 2019?

@taniwharugby Yes, but we don't know whether that includes the development contracts, or only refers to the full contracts. And the media may be wrong, of course.

The Chiefs have plenty of players off contract, including the never seen Verney, Aumua and Hoeata (injured).

@bovidae Verney unlikely to even play for us until the back end of M10 if he is able to.

    The list was:
Graham - won't be re-signed with 6 props in the squad
    Ross - re-signed
Taukei'aho - needs to be signed
Hoeata - from the Naki so a good chance of being involved again 🙂 I'd prefer McWhannell
    MMac - see above
    Verney
    Aumua
    Pulu - gone to Brumbies
    Stevenson 🙄

Also need to replace Bird, Messam, Fa'auli and Nanai-Williams. I'm saying Wainui is Ngatai's replacement.

He did play though. And must have been on before HT as it was 17-7 at HT. And from memory he was poor

Wellington 60 (Malo Tuitama 2, Julian Savea, Asafo Aumua, Isaia Walker-Leawere, Du'Plessis Kirifi, Ben Lam, Regan Verney tries; Jackson Garden-Bachop 7 con, 2 pen) Canterbury 14 (Josh McKay, George Bridge tries; Richie Mo'unga 2 con). HT: 17-7.

Yeah I remember that game and Mo'unga was a non event. He came on early with a Cameron injury. Still he seems to have improved a bit this year!

@winger Mo'unga came on for 13 minutes during the first half when Cameron was being treated for an injury. In those 13 minutes, Canterbury scored a try which he converted. After that he went off again. He replaced the right winger (Waqanibau) in the second half, but playing at fullback (the fullback moving to the wing), but Mo'unga did the goalkicking. He indeed didn't have an extraordinary game, but it's ludicrous to say he was outplayed by JGB (which is what you claimed) if only because Mo'unga played out of position most of his time on the field. JGB kicked very well in that game, though. That Canterbury played while rotating several players and had several injuries wasn't an excuse for their poor performance. Wellington played excellent rugby, dealing much better with the horrible weather conditions. It was a well-deserved win.

Love your work. Winger and Machpants don't seem to want the truth to get in the way of a good story.

I see that Issac Te Tamaki has found his way to Southland. He might be concentrating more on 15s and was a regular in the Hamilton Marist side this season.
