Cum Town did an episode (for their Patreon) where they went deep into the dark, pathetic parts of reddit to find out if it's still alright to make fun of adult virgins.
It's a fucking classic.

Good listen. Interesting background to his early days at CM and how he ended up at the dirty Mooloos

Arbuckle killed Rappe with a champagne bottle?
Almost certainly a fabrication. Likely she died from a combination of alcohol, kidney failure, and a bladder infection.
Interesting. Might have to listen to that one , cheers .
Do you listen to revisionist history by Malcolm Gladwell ?

@jegga Nah. I rather dislike Gladwell, to be honest. A few people have recommended it to me though.
I’m not a fan either but that podcast is usually very good . Jalopnik has one called Tempest that are pretty good too.

I've recently subscribed to http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/history/inourtime/index.shtml
Melvyn Bragg (only mildly annoying) chairs a weekly discussion with three scholars on the topic of discussion for the week.
Back catalogue in the hundreds.
I've listened to everything from Cicero to Fusion to The Siege of Malta and the Sihk Empire. Covers ideas - scientific discovery, history and the arts and is about 40 minutes each time.

Gladwell is annoying but his podcasts are well produced.
Consensus that his content of his stories is of value though?
Imho it is , a good example is the truth behind the statue in Alabama podcast
That’s not to say Gladwell isn’t annoying. I find him less annoying now though, his books are good too I reckon.

@jegga yeah that was a good one.
The one about the news reporter falsely remembering being in combat opened my eyes to how flawed our memories are, something I've noticed getting older as the family reminisce. A lot of genuine but false recollections.
He was a bit shrill when dissecting college footballers and cte but the data seemed pretty clear.
Anyway thanks jeg, all good

Alright fuckers. Only just discovered this thread so buckle in.
I had a podcast I ran that went to #1 in new and noteworthy in 6 different countries and have helped 100s of people create podcasts. Mine was ok just interviewing young entrepreneurs. Have finished the show after 185 episodes but am about to release a new one for where i am pivoting with business.
Here are my favorites
- Tim Ferriss Podcast - A better version IMO ofJoe Rogans. I havent listened in a while due to changing between audio books and training programs but loved his ones with Tony Robbins, Jamie Foxx, Arnold.
- Startup Podcast- From the founder of Gimblet media start with season one its great. The season following the american appreal guy is the next best
- Seriel - Because yeah
- The Pitch - From the creators of startup. Kind of like shark tank with less filler and ads
- My favorite show is called Reply All - Again from the creators of startup. This is called a show about the internet has lots of random well produced stories of random shit. To get a taste of the show I would start with Episode 102 called long distance. Its a two part episode. If you like that you will love the series
- Also don't mind from time to time the show called ' the top' interviews startup owners and goes into all their numbers etc, smart passive income by pat flynn is ok as well depending on the episode.
- ESPN 30 for 30 podcast is good. The one about Bikrim yoga is interesting then they interview lots of the creators of the different docos
- Science vs : Probably my second favorite podcast. Takes controversial topics and compares what science actually says about this eg antivax, organic food, gun laws.

The Teacher’s Pet is hugely popular here in Oz, about a missing person/murder, a former Newtown Jets player, and teachers having sex with students in the early 80s. But, I'd advise against listening to it.
The story is actually really interesting but unfortunately, I think it’s one of most poorly made podcasts I have ever listened to. The presenter has a kind of dry speaking style, in fact he’s like the Oz version of The Black Hands guy, but that’s not the issue. It’s desperately in need of some structure. The episodes jump around with no focus and lots talking heads who are often indistinguishable. Stuff is repeated over and over again or one talking head will be abruptly cut off and they’ll go to another one speaking about a completely different topic. There’s a theme running through it about Police incompetence but 12 episodes in and they haven’t really delved into it.
In this day and age with Serial etc a bar has been set, most podcasts don’t reach it, but the good ones get close by having a focus that Teacher’s Pet lacks.
The worst thing about it was that I was about 7 episodes in before realising just how much it was annoying me and now I’m stuck listening to be a completist – and the story is really interesting when you sift through the rubbish.
@Magpie_in_aus I like Science vs - but has it finished for a second time?

@jegga I haven't got to Revolutions yet because I have started on his "The History of Rome" as I did a bit of Classics and Ancient History at Uni (yeah yeah "but Dogmeat it would have been Modern history when you did it")
I'm 42 episodes in - the disintegration of the 1st Triumvirate . 137 to go. Thoroughly entertaining. Very dry sense of humour Great stuff Thanks
