Crusaders vs Waratahs

Nick McArdle on Fox Sports is going off at the referee and I can't say I blame him. Moody should have received a yellow or possibly a red for an elbow on Beale in the lead up to the Crusaders' first try and that last tip tackle should have been a penalty to the Tahs. Crusaders were lucky.

It's been s while since some still shots of NZ rugby players being dirty went viral.
We are Defo due

Foley is a shadow of his former self. Who else is in the frame at 10 for the Wallabies? I can't even think of anyone.
-
@no-quarter Leiliafano would maybe be the only other option?

This is weird for two reasons, 1. I think I'm watching netball because of the female commentator and 2. I actually want the Crusaders to win. I feel dirty.
It put me off right from the jump - it is a game played by blokes and blokes who are part of the game instinctively know what is happening and offer better, more interesting commentary as a consequence.
Nice that we are back to the fifties. Rugby’s not just a game for guys, hasn’t been for years.
I thought she was ok.
Oh? Is this more to your liking?

I take it you've not seen me comment here previously about how much I enjoy Melodie Robinson's support commentary and analyses in the ITM Cup broadcasts because
I am oldI am impressed by her knowledge and manner of presentation. Or was it the Rothmans Filter Cup? ... so long ago ... -

Rikki Swannell isn't doing a bad job of calling the match, but somehow it just doesn't sound right. Should have given her the Blues and us TJ.
Deal!
She thought she was watching Blues - calling Cam Clark, Caleb Clarke

It's funny to hear that the Aussies are complaining about the ref. O'Keefe & co. didn't do the Crusaders many favours. Offside wasn't reffed (and the Tahs seemed to be offside all the time), that high tackle on Bateman should have been a card, and how many penalties did it eventually take to get to the PT? Even if some were soft, it took way too long.
Shit first 25 minutes from the Saders. Crusaders looked shell-shocked and didn't adapt soon enough. I think that's all due to Crotty not being there, and possibly Dagg. Leadership from the older, more experienced heads was missing and Bateman just isn't the player to provide it. Something the Crusaders need to look at when they're recruiting for the next seasons.
But once they came back, they came back with a vengeance. Massive shift from guys like Whitelock, Taufua and Goodhue. Mo'unga wasn't that bad at all IMO. His kicking game was a bit off (looked like something from the game plan that didn't work, maybe relying too much on their defence and/or under-estimating Folau), but apart from that he did a great job. It was the handling errors of other players that let them down in the first 25 minutes; his game management was good and he made several try assists.
The coaches clearly have work to do after today. What went wrong during those 25 minutes? The moves weren't new and like the ones they make in every game, but they kept on dropping the ball; passes were absolutely terrible. Back to basics? Hope they don't have more injuries. Taufua seemed to struggle with his knee; Bateman with his neck after that high tackle; Mataele's head knock.

I think the saders coming back from 0-29 says more about the Waratahs than them, as you kinda expected once the saders got stemmed the flow they were always gonna be a shot to overhaul them, which in the end they actually made hard work of.
BUt for the tahs it just shows the hole Aussie rugby is in right now, lack of self belief in everything they are doing.
Sure they kept going to the end, but they still never really looked like taking bar maybe a lucky penalty.
-
@no-quarter Really? The Tahs on 2 occasions did the same thing and the referee played on. Nobody was aggrieved then
-
@unite Yep, I've watched it a few times, too. Incredibly stupid. Lengthy suspension coming up, I think.
I wonder whether there's any footage of a Waratah player (allegedly) punching a Crusader in a line-out? I heard the radio commentators about it, when it happened, read it in comments, but didn't see it myself. -
Just watched it. Lack of intensity in the first 30 minutes got punished by some pretty good attacking play by the Tahs.
Best part about the game wasn’t even in the 80 minutes of play, but came in the post game show with Nick McArdle having a massive cry. He started yelling even. I think Gregan and Kafer were a little embarrassed by it.
Aussie rugby, comedy on and off the field.
