Tahs discipline is terrible. They shoudl be more embarrassed than the Blues at how they play. And they are the cream of the Aussie conference... this is a real worry for Aussie rugby.
Itβs a worry for us too. Aussie being this weak is a massive problem for the health of the game in NZ
You think? While it's shocking to see how bad they've fallen, this Super format has ensured NZ rugby will be strong. The derbies are an elite NPC that has elevated NZ rugby to another level, regardless of what the Aussies or Saffas do.
Dude the point is Super Rugby isnt going to be around much longer if this keeps up.
You reckon? What's the alternative?
World Series Rugby just got 20k fans in Perth last night.

You get the feeling pre game , Aussie Rugby were almost pleading for this to be the one to break the drought ,
Forget the Blues woes ,
How bad are they going ?

On the Rieko non try. I think the ref got it right. At the point he hit the ground he had a waratah hand on him therefore was held. The waratah player has to then release him. He can't just get back up. Refs have been getting that wrong regularly though.
There are a lot of people (me included) that would be stoked to see the tackle ruled like that. But, every week, you see players tackled, hit the ground, defender releases and they stand up and go again. Refs just shrug and play on. Like anything, it's the consistency.
As someone else said below, there are multiple examples in teh game where they don't rule it like that.

@canerbry haha.
So the Blues have now beaten both non-nz conference leaders away from home. Lol.
Any chance we can get the Blues moved into the Aussie conference next year..
-
@kiwimurph blues need to be able to play themselves to beat a NZ team...

The ridiculous part of that , they would probably play finals

BTW, this situation (except the try scoring bit) was one of the 'proofs' of Romanian ref's 'corruption' in the Spain v Belgium match when he corrrctly ruled a Spanish player was tackled and got back up without releasing.

Yeah but that's a special case: the people "over East" took their rugby team away.
Never underestimate the power of hate when it's a Sand Groper versus the world. Bigger victim mentally than Camtabs or Brumbies fans.

On the upside - I thought Papali'i outplayed Hooper. Be nice of the commentators could learn now to pronounce his name.
Dalton and his family pronounce it Papali not Papali'i.

If the Ockers want to be competitive, they need to ditch another team.
Haven't shown any promise from ditching one team. Ditching another one won't help.
The "development" "pathway" is utterly broken, and only getting worse as it contracts into the core of the private schools.

Really enjoyed the chase of Ioane and good call by the ref - like others, it annoys me the number of times refs let people carry on after being tackled, similar to allowing turnovers by players flopped over rucks. (and on that note, what happened to the early weeks adjudication that hands weren't allowed once ruck is formed - seems to be back to the free for all now).
On Ioane's pace, a bit hard to judge as Tahs winger is obviously quick and didn't really haul him in so much as match him for pace over an extended distance. The most impressive part was that me actually made the tackle, see lots of chases like that where they get in position to make the tackle and fluff it.

I'm always happy to have a competition where the Australian contribution is to bend over and take it from our teams, but that's simply not sustainable for professional sport because the fans lose interest, followed by the local athletes losing interest in that sport as an option.
The success of the Brumbies with the leftovers blinded everyone to the point that there aren't enough good players in Queensland and NSW to support 4 or 5 fully professional teams. If the Rebels and Force had only recruited local players, it might have been different, but then they'd have been slaughtered even more than they were without recruiting at least some players from outside the catchment areas.

Really? I hadn't noticed ...

Well you're looking at the death spiral. Nothing has really changed much on the domestic rugby front: unless you're an avid follower and/or have pay TV, you have no fucking idea which teams are from where.
But a couple of Wallabies victories and everything is right again

don't worry guys, they will win this weekend and all will be well with the Blues...
Told ya

Pffft hahaha that's it, switch off the life support, Aus Rugby is officially dead.
How did it come this far? It puts the woes of our Blues brethren in perspective when an entire country is this far gone.
