I'm very impressed with how the Women's sevens game in general has improved over the last few years, the top games are really good to watch. Oh, and congratulations to the Black Ferns on a great tournament!

    2 Tim Mikkelson
    3 Trael Joass

    5 Dylan Collier
    6 Akuila Rokolisoa

Several changes from the Commonwealth Games winning squad have been required, with Scott Curry (injury), Sam Dickson (injury), Joe Webber (illness), Regan Ware (parental leave) and Vilimoni Koroi (New Zealand under 20s) all unavailable.

Exciting backs Ngarohi McGarvey-Black and Joe Ravouvou return to the squad, while the hard-working Teddy Stanaway and Tone Ng Shiu bolster the forward park.

Both Curry and Dickson out is a huge loss.

Full time: 32 - 7. Second half tries to Joass, Nanai-Seturo and Ng Shiu. Very easy game against a very weak opponent.

The next game will probably test them more.

Samoa had most of the possession during the first half, but couldn't get through the South African defence. SA had only one chance and took it. Awesome try to Werner Kok.

    HT: SA 7 - 0 Samoa

    Interesting stats:

Tackles made: SA 17, Samoa 0
Tackles missed: SA 10, Samoa 1 (the one that led to SA's try)

Awesome try from Motuga. Finally a try to Samoa, who actually look better than SA.

Can't believe Samoa stuffed that up by taking too long at the kick off, get penalized and Blitz come back and score with a converted try in the corner 19-5

    Full time:

    South Africa 26 - 5 Samoa

This is a score that doesn't do justice to Samoa, that looked the better team for most of the game, except the last 90 seconds in which SA scored two great tries.

Samoa deserved more. The South African team that we saw in this game is definitely beatable.

Australia with the first try. NZ haven't had the ball yet. Eventually, the Aussies found a hole in the defence.

    5-0 Oz
