You can take the Tinker out of Ireland...
-
It keeps getting worse
Khabib was originally meant to fight Ferguson. He injured himself tripping over at the start or the week. Then comes Holloway who pulled out today because the NY commission wasn’t happy with his weight cut. Then they went to Pettis who was left without an opponent because of Conor... he couldn’t make weight. Then they tried Felder, the commission blocked that on lack of a ranking.
Now the opponent is Al Iaquinta. He also didn’t make weight so it’s at a catch weight. Khabib will destroy him. He was meant to be fighting Felder, so now Felder has no opponent.
It was 13 fights now it’s 9.
The should move the women’s fight up to be the main event

Despite all the changes that was still an enjoyable card.
Iaquinta would have won a lot of fans, but that was a stupid fight from Khabib. Arrogance? Got macho about trading punches? His corner was begging him to take it down to the ground again.
Ferguson or even Holloway may have beaten him it he fought that style against themRose has improved. Again. That 5th round was surprising. I thought Joanna thad aken control midway through, a bit like her fight with Gadelha. But Rose is a level above everyone else at the moment.
Magomedsharipov vs Boshniak. Freakish talent against a fearless guy with a great chin. Easily the fight of the night. The most entertaining fight since Gaethje/Alvarez last year
-
Not a bad card on regular sky tomorrow.
Gaethje v Poirier should be entertaining. Gaethje fights are always high paced, full of great striking and lack subtlety. It should just be a brawl until someone drops.
A couple fo fights before the is Nigerian/Kiwi Israel Adesanya. Maybe over-hyped? Jon Jones like in his striking.. but how does he go on the ground.. or when things don't go his way? I doubt we'll find out against Vettori
Good to have another Kiwi coming through the ranks. It'll keep the company interested in this region -
Really enjoyed this card.
Good fights top to bottom
-
Great finish, ref was slow with that punch.
Could be a classic against Felder.
Some really good bouts on this card.

This was the best moment on the card. Delivering a kick like that after taking a severe beating for 2 rounds
Who do you think would win between Lee and Khabib? I’m starting to think Lee might edge it

The Khabib in the last bout then Lee.
'Normal' Khabib then Khabib.
Lee will have to wait his turn though

There's an interesting fight involving a kiwi later today. Israel Adesanya (Nigerian kiwi, moved here at 10) vs Brad Tavares
It's not a ppv, it's on regular sky ~4:45pmThis is the first decent opposition he's had in the UFC. His striking has looked great so far but the question has been about his ground game.. he doesn't need to become a great wrestler he just needs to copy a guy like Bisping and become proficient and getting back to his feet. His kickboxing is quality.
It's a smaller octagon on this card. That'll make it harder to avoid the take down
-
@duluth He's at risk of getting caught with all the antics. I enjoy his swagger and some of his skills are very advanced, more so than just about any other striker I have seen recently. Hes almost 30 and needs to make a name for himself and quickly. But I don't want to see another Anderson Silva/Weidman situation because he didn't pay his enough respect to the other guys abilities.
-
So Adesanya pretty much just picked Tavares into tiny pieces.
Looked much better than his last time out. Not exactly convinced that he has the knock out power to worry top ten guys but against a conventional striker who stands in front of him he looks the goods. A good wrestler will trouble him but that being said, his TD and clinch defence were very good in this one. Even showed a little bit of skill on the ground.
His ability to effectively set the pace is interesting and a little frustrating. I would have loved to see him light Tavares up when he had him hurt but he just dropped straight back into his rhthym. On the other hand he clearly new how he wanted the fight to progress so kudos for being able to keep to the plan.
Pretty damn impressive.

Spot on.
Devloping his all round skills 'on the job' against a Top 10 veteran and coming away with the emphatic decision was very impressive.
Much like Till, the swagger will get you noticed and higher ranking opponents, but as you climb the ladder the skills will do the talking.
Good card. Good Ultimate Fighter Series and deserved winners on the night.
