As a black caps fan I've done my share of rain dances, but a light dance is a new one.

Have considered this over Craps matches before:

Actually quite pleased now that the cricket people didn't realise that daylight saving is an hour, not 30 mins.

So what's left to face, worst case? Things to watch out for? Surely it's not that beyond comprehension...

Worst case is 2 very experienced new ball bowlers with 900 wickets between them with a shiny ball under cloud cover creating swing in poor light against a fragile Craps tail.

    We can dare to hope.

@snowy since when is the craps tail fragile? Have we got our top order batsmen there now?

@bones Fair call. They often show more fight than the top order.
We could probably reverse the order and be no worse off.

    Reports Southee isn’t well either..

I'd be disappointed if several of the top order weren't also feeling unwell. Now that Joe Parker is unemployed he could be given the job of boxing a few ears! 🙂

Clear blue sky overhead at present - might have to bat at least 30 overs here!

Sodhi has lasted more deliveries than Williamson, Taylor, and Nicholls combined.

Great to see the lower ordering putting up a fight again - if we pull this out of the fire it'll be some effort considering the top order failings this test. Hard to see them surviving the new ball though.

So by my calculation Broad has bowled just 11 overs today, but Anderson has bowled 17. He's surely not going to be bowling a long fiery spell!

Cricinfo just linked to Danny Morrisons last test. I'd forgotten about that one. What a rear guard it was, almost 3 hours at the crease. I can only imagine how gut wrenching it must have been as an England fan (actually, I've experienced 10th wicket stands humiliate the BCs so I'm speaking from experience actually!)

This is incredibly cruel of the BCs to hang on for hours only to rip put our collective hearts and fail at the end

Haha what an awful dismissal by CDG.

Still - he did well when he was in there unlike a few others.

For the talk of 'should have chased', very few of the dismissals seem to have been from a forward defensive shot gone wrong...

Oh dear. At least CDG hung around for a while but that mode of dismissal is not a good look.
