No good, but used plenty of time.

For a guy who’s pretty good at dropkicks, what the fuck was that Mitch?

Would've thought that Goodhue at 12 and Tamanivalu at 13 would've been a better midfield.

I reckon Bateman has gone ok.

@gt12 I don't. They need someone who can run straight at 12.

Dixon in, pass is marginal though...

They didn’t even look at the last pass....

That was the most questionable part for me. Still a try though.

To me the most questionable past was the referring, going back more than 2 breakdowns to look at something on video

To add to that - especially when they had Taufua out there. With him off, the midfield hasn’ had much go forward.

    @gunner

Not enough impact or size for a lock.

Not enough impact or skill for a 6.

    Too many stupid penalties.

That was a pretty scrappy game. Worst I've seen the Crusaders. Understandable given the injuries of course.

Yeah, seems like one of those players that can play wither 6 or lock, but neither to the highest standard. Like a cricket all-rounder that is only competent at batting/bowling without being a standout.

Long way from their best team and they had a bit of bad luck too.

Great game when you think about who is missing.

Yeah, Bateman is extremely limited as a player. The Canes under Hammett replaced Nonu with Bateman in the dark old days... sheesh talk about polar opposites.

    What???

    This season - or ever?

You must have missed a lot of games during the Blackadder era! 🙂

I thought we went alright for the first 60 minutes.

Maybe I’ve just been watching too many Chief’s games with Fa’auli at 12.

@chris-b Worst recently ... so this year or last.

    Blues level ball security.

@wally It's certainly a worry if he and Romano are NZ's 3rd and 4th choice locks. The drop-off is huge.

Drop-off from Mo'unga to Hunt is pretty sizeable, as well. On average his "last minute" drop-kicks vs the Highlanders have probably balanced out. 🙂

I remain pretty mystified at why we've conscripted Irish Ollie Jager.

Doesn’t matter who they didn’t have on the field, they still managed to put out a bloody decent team that would beat most comers, so poor excuse IMO.

Still, what a bloody good game to watch.
Pity that we now have to either watch the boring Brumbies or boring Storm....

Bateman is a poor mans version of Owen Farrell. Not really an extra playmaker, not a penetrating centre. A SWB.
