Losing Moli is a blow to not just the Chiefs, but also the ABs. We have so little depth at looesehad and if Hames is suffering from concussion symptoms, who knows when he will be back. Was hoping Moli would have a good Super season in 2018 and prove himself as a loosehead. Now there is only Moody and not much below him.

Is there an up-to-date injury list somewhere? SANZAAR used to keep one until 2016 I think, but seem to have abandoned it.

I’m trying to work out how a haematoma which is basically a large clot keeps you out for a whole season.
one kid on our team got one. huge bruise on his leg Sat afternoon, by Sunday night he was in hospital almost dying. not sure of technical jargon but in laymens terms blood starts flooding inside shit. soemthing involving gangrenous shit too. wouldnt be surprised if Moli has had some shit carved out of his leg
Ok well that sounds like crap...

Now, he'll have company on the pine for the year with the side announcing young prop Atu Moli would miss the remainder of the campaign after undergoing surgery to repair complications on a haematoma in his quad.
The club suffered another big blow to their season during the Blues clash with fellow prop Nepo Laulala sustaining a fracture to his forearm that will require surgery to repair. As a result, he was expected to miss 8-12 weeks of action.

Injury update Chiefs (from their instagram):
Thanks to our Whanau for all your concern regarding our player injuries. Here’s an update on where they're at. The players really appreciate your kind thoughts and words of encouragement, please leave your messages of support for them below Chiefs fans! Shaun Stevenson – injured his knee in the warm-up and will be assessed this week Nepo Laulala – fractured forearm requiring surgery and is expected to be out for 8-12 weeks Brodie Retallick – withdrew from Friday’s match after getting a poke in the eye at training. He has completely recovered and will be available for selection next week Atunaisa Moli – had complications from a quad hematoma which required surgery. Atu has been ruled out for the season. Tim Nanai-Williams – had surgery on Friday to stabilise his shoulder. Tim has been ruled out for the season. We wish you all a quick and speedy recovery. Kia Kaha boys.
And yes, that was all they wrote. Nothing about the other injured players.

penalty, off his feet at the ruck.
-
@mariner4life doesn't the ball have to be there for it to be a ruck?
-
so you think he only fell down and bound on after the ball left? just for a bit of a rest? how cute.
Penalty!
(this is my pet hate in the game, the allowance of both sides at the ruck to get that low leads to most of the shit at the breakdown we all hate)

The 23-man Western Force squad, to be released today in Perth by WA mining billionaire Andrew Forrest and former Wallabies captain Michael Lynagh, is expected to play matches against Crusaders and Brumbies during the June Test window as well as matches against the three Pacific island nations of Fiji, Samoa and Tonga before the NRC begins in September.
-
@kiwimurph Why? Where's their own competition that was all the talk? I guess the difference is paying professional footballers can't be a charitable donation...
-
@mariner4life why not? that looks like a good couple of seconds after the ball has left (I know Ardie is super quick, but still...) after which binding, not supporting etc are no longer valid, only foul play?
-
@antipodean The last thing I read about that competition was in this article:
Rugby Australia has still not given a final tick of approval to the Indo Pacific Rugby Championship despite day-long talks in Perth today.
IPRC is set to kick off in March next year but matches against Pacific Island teams like Fiji, Samoa and Tonga and Super Rugby sides like the Crusaders and Brumbies are already being organised for the Force.
Robinson said discussions were also held on a new SANZAAR strategy paper. “It lines up what the world might look like in the next two three years,” he said. “It looks at different options that SANZAAR has, the status quo or other options, including expansion in an Asia Pacific context. “From the Force’s perspective that is probably the piece that is more relevant.
“The focus on SANZAAR is to make the existing competition work but at the same time look at what it could look like in 2021 and beyond. “It comes down to expansion into Pacific Island and Asian markets, markets that Super Rugby are looking at, either through IPRC if we go down that path or through an expansion of the NRC. “We can open up opportunities for those teams.” One area that RA will not be shifting from is Wallabies eligibility. Players can only qualify if they are signed to an Australian side or have played 60 tests if playing overseas. “That is our position. It protects the integrity of our domestic competition,” Robinson said. “In an IPRC world the WA team will be a vehicle for people to play for Australia.” Forrest wants any Australian players lured back from Europe or Japan and playing in any IPRC sides to be eligible.

According to Yalden, Moli's injury was so serious that they were talking of a possible amputation.
Let's just hope that he can make it back onto the rugby field at some stage. Such an outstanding prospect.
must be pretty bad as he is having multiple surgeries

www.medicinenet.com/hematoma/article.htm#what_are_the_complications_of_a_hematoma
What are the complications of a hematoma?
Hematomas cause swelling and inflammation. Often the inflammation and swelling cause irritation of adjacent organs and tissues, and cause the symptoms and complications of a hematoma. One common complication of all hematomas is the risk of infection. While the hematoma is made of old blood, it has no blood supply itself and therefore is at risk for colonization with bacteria.
