looking at that Chiefs roster, not only could i not pick the vast majority of them out of a line-up, i don't even know roughly what positions they play.
Any chance someone could pick out a best 23 for me?
-
@mariner4life I'll give it a crack. I may be off a player or two but here is a general idea
1 Hames 2 Harris 3 Laulala 4 Retallick 5 Bird 6 Taleni Seu 7 Sam Cane 8 Liam Messam 9 Weber 10 DMac 11 Alaimalo 12 Ngatai 13 ALB 14 Stevenson 15 TNW
16 Taukei'aho 17 Moli 18 Graham 19 Allardice 20 Brown/Jacobson 21 TTT 22 McKenzie 23 McNicol
-
@kiwimurph cheers. it appears we are fucked. Messam is still in our best loosie mix, in his 2nd position (love you Liam, you my boy, but you should be in that veteran mentor role now). TNW is a starter? at FB? Dmac is out 10? shiiiiit
Good tight 5 though, if Harris learns to hit a lineout.
-
@mariner4life actually I think TNW is out with an injury he picked up at the 10s so scratch that.
I'd expect Luke Jacobson (6/8) to work his way into the starting loose forward mix sooner rather than later - he is from NZ U20s and very promising but he'll probably be eased in like most youngsters.
-
@mariner4life Despite Liam's ageing, it's a more than handy pack. Best lock and loose forward in the world with able assistants.
The problem is DMac needs to learn how to be a five-eighth. His Super Rugby fullback style of play will not transfer well.
-
@kiwimurph That's a decent looking team which will be decimated by injuries in a couple of weeks and will look like:
- Reserve prop from Naki, 2. Harris, 3. Prop from Naki club rugby, 4. Retallick, 5. one of the flankers moved to lock, 6. Canadian flanker, 7. Cane, 8. Jacobson, 9. TTT, 10. Marty Mac, 11. A wing from the Naki, 12. ALB, 13. Sean Wainui, 14. Aumua (not the new AB hooker), 15. Falcon.
-
This would be my 23 (suggestions on who Cooper and co may select):
-
Hames
-
Harris
-
Laulala
-
Retallick
-
Bird
-
Brown/Messam
-
Cane
-
Messam/Brown (could be Seu or Ardron)
-
Weber
-
DMac
-
Alaimalo
-
Ngatai
-
ALB
-
Pulu (TNW when fit)
-
Stevenson
-
Taukei'aho (they will pick Polwart, whose lineout throwing is crap)
-
Graham (Ross until then)
-
Moli
-
Seu
-
Boshier
-
TTT
-
Falcon
-
An outside back - Pulu, MMac or Aumua

I'm happy to see two packs at it like that. The pain in their legs. Means when the ball comes out for a phase or two there's more room.
This. Contest at scrum time. As long as they're not scrumming fo penalties.

This was pretty funny followed by a post containing a team chock full of internationals. I thought you were either NTA or Mn5.

I wanted to keep the BoP boy in there since M4L was the one who originally asked.

-
@antipodean Not really important but do you mean Helen Keller?
-
There's no way Rasta can be worse than that ref the South African's had last year - Jaco van Heerden. Rasta is worth a go cos he certain to be at least somewhat better.
The same applies to the canned Australian referee Rohan Hoffman - anyone else is a better shout.
-
@rembrandt No. Helen's blind and deaf - like any ref. Anne is hiding in an attic.
