    I'm not heartbroken at all.

I thought we played that almost perfectly, except that we got the qualification target out the way very comfortably and then fucked up the last two overs - so didn't ice the cake with a win.

    Mainly I blame Boult.

Getting hit for six twice in an over by batsmen facing their first ball is inept - especially when he clearly wasn't trying to bowl a yorker and missing - just bowling from the buffet.

Jordan largely showing how it should be done. Get the fucking yorkers in and if someone repeatedly ramps you then good for them.

Practice should be very simple before Auckland.

Bowlers - learn how to bowl full length yorkers.
Batsmen - have a plan to score off those deliveries.

That's two heartbreakers in a row BCs.

    What the fuck dudes?

Remember the WC mate, we only have one epic get out of jail performance in us. We do terrible when there is expectation to win so we have the Aussies right where we want them ๐Ÿ˜‰

Yorkers are awful deliveries in T20 because the margin for error is so small - poor yorkers are full tosses, in the slot or wides.

Someone said it earlier, but Seifert was pretty untidy behind the stumps. More so while the spinners were bowling.
Think he dropped one catch and floored a few others that the batters missed too.

Youโ€™d think heโ€™d be well used to keeping to his Knights team mates on their home track?

    Hopefully just an off night.

@mn5 I think what makes it far more perplexing is that Kane scored no runs and Boult went for a heap. Not how this is supposed to work!

Timmy showed how to bowl at the death today, but Boult was unfortunately just as bad a pie seller as he was in Auckland.

On the other hand, bowling anything else that gets picked is likely going to or over the boundary.

If you are supposedly an international class bowler, you should IMO be able to bowl a pretty consistent yorker.

@chris-b Agree - after Jordan's wayward start to the penultimate over, we needed 13 from 10 with the next ball a free hit. And managed just 1 from his remaining 4 balls despite another no ball and free hit. Combination of great yorker bowling and Chapman not adapting to squeeze them away for runs. But you'd take being that close with 10 balls left with wickers in hand chasing a total of almost 200.

I thought he was really good at it, the English bought heaps and scattered them all over Hamilton. Not as many as Wheeler sold but sales were pretty good.

Your point is well made though, our best bowler and best batsman aren't really doing the job.

Overall, I feel like a Black Caps supporter again. Disappointed, often confused, angry and back in therapy.

You can copy and paste that mixture of feelings with The Blues and Warriors

@virgil Personally doesn't work that way for me. I gave up caring about the Warriors and Blues a decade ago. Unfortunately I was smitten with the cricket bug in my youth and have carried a candle for NZ Cricket ever since.

Its a lovelorn liaison though as she's a feckless temptress. Plays me along just enough to keep me interested and then consistently leaves me disappointed and wanting more out of the relationship - like a teenage virgin its all excitement, expectation, the promise of fulfilment and ultimately lots of disappointing nights in front of the TV.

Its been a life-long love affair though and I dare say I will carry it on till I go to my grave. There's no fool like an old fool.

So - the final against the unbeaten Australians tonight. Notably, they have bowled first and won all four of their matches.

Given my expectation that whomever bats first is going to be thinking they might need 250, my strategy would be to win the toss and let the Aussies go for it.

They may go too hard and get themselves in trouble - or they may not go quite hard enough.

A more cynical fulla might assume NZC thought we wouldn't make it!

Yeah, get the bowling out of the way and back our in-form batsmen to chase anything looks to be the best tactic.

I reckon we'll win, purely down to Oz being unbeaten ๐Ÿ˜ caveat is that if we lose I suspect we'll get pumped. Hard.

Tactic yes. It is more likely to be fill them up with pies and get to bed early.
