Watched the first ep of Banshee and it looks worth a go. Good production values and scripting. Characters are interesting.

Obviously the first ep was establishing the bones of the story and without giving anything away, the basic premise is a newly released con that has a situation land in his lap where he can take the identity of an out of town Sheriff just arriving at the town of Banshee (it makes better sense when you watch it). He has his reasons for wanting to be there as well.

You never really thought you were watching Van/Jethro either, so that was good on Antony Starr's part. -
I see Banshee is up on SoHo pretty quick. For those of you that have seen it andwant more background info I suggest you go to the Cinemax website and check the extras. there are a whole bunch of 'flashback' clips that flesh out the backstory and characters. There is also a Graphic Novel free pdf download with the story of the job that had Hood jailed in the first place.

Season 2 of " Sons of Anarchy" is pretty good, you guys should check it out

it is early 2010 isn't it? -

First ep has also been provided for free on Youtube by Cinemax. They are investing a fair bit in trying to get this one off the ground. -
did season 2 of "Sons of Anarchy" in a week, and i'm now 4 episodes into season 3. damn good show. My wife still can't believe she likes it so much, when she considers the content

If S3 is the Irish season - then pretty much everyone said it was shit .... -
well, pretty much everyone are dicks.

will probably start season 4 tonight, and i think by this time next week i will have finished season 5. -
S4 is the one with arguably the sh!ttest season finale ever...outside of Lost

I thought about half of S3 was good, some superb soundtracks as well, but just seemed to drag out. -
Did SOA change writers for Season 4? It's like a completely different show. All the humour has gone. All the little side stories of "helping" Charming are gone. The "bad guys with a heart of gold" feel has gone. Now, they are just bad guys. And its hard to root for them like you have for the first 3 seasons.

Bobby and Wayne Unser are suddenly the most interesting characters -
Same writers ( or at least the main creator of the show/ story), Kurt Sutter.
From 4 on though, it does become more and more about Jax being dragged deeper into a lifestyle he is trying to escape.
Warning for series 5 and those of you watching with your possibly gentler halves. The violence does get a bit more graphic. -
Just finished watching the final season of Friday Night Lights after reading it recommended on here so many times. Putting it simply is is fucking brilliant, one of the best shows I've seen, if not the best.

I watched the pilot about a week ago (easily the most compelling first episode of any show I've watched), and have eaten through all five seasons since then. So much for doing productive stuff in my week off work!

I don't want to become one of those fawning idiots who constantly recommend TV shows, but please do yourself a favour if you haven't seen it. Season 2 is largely a mess and season 4 starts slowly but it's so worth persevering. The conclusion is really great as well, which is a rarity.

So thanks to all those who talked it up here! -

Agree: I'm currently watching FNL week by week on Sky and it is a consistent highlight. Am on S3:E11. Quite like the old school act of waiting for each episode.
Season 3 is the best season I reckon. The last episode is a real tear jerker (the whole show is really, although I suppose I lose man points for admitting that), partly because they thought they might get canned so made it a show finale of sorts.

Funnily enough I'm the opposite to you, I need to watch back to back eps to really immerse myself in the show. I can't wait a week, lose the flow completely.

I have just implemented a new policy when it comes to new TV shows- I won't watch it until it is finished its 3rd season. This is for two reasons- it allows me to watch multiple eps back-to-back, and it also prevents me from being burned when a show I have invested in is canned after its 1st or 2nd season (eg How to make it in America, Hung, Party Down etc). -
Terriers is one of the one and done shows I still recommend. Also Better off Ted. One of the funniest work place comedies ever, that absolutely no one watched.
