What surprised me was how short Oz bowled when the common wisdom is pitch it up.
Total wasted effort. I only saw the last session but I don't think I saw one they dug in cause any trouble for the batsman - and as for the review - fucking muppets
Mind you apart from the first over with the second new ball Malan and Bairstow looked totally untroubled.
-
@dogmeat the short stuff worked Stoneman over nicely, and then Mitchell "Fucking" Marsh dropped him. Malan was taking it on and not always executing cleanly. It wasn't a bad tactic considering a lot of the full stuff was disappearing to the fence.
Keeping it full on that pitch, with a wearing ball, was a recipe for getting driven repeatedly. With the new ball we had another chance put down, then a bunch of streaky edges through slip. None of the LBWs were sticking because of height.
That review was, again, fucking stupid.
The execution could have been better, but there was a lot to like about the short ball work in the middle of the day.
-
That review this morning was disgraceful, and just reeked of desperation. Not sure you can blame Starc, he didn't look overly convinced. Someone must have been, despite an awful lot of stumps showing. Very poor cricket.
-
Handscomb does more as sub fielder than Mitch Marsh will this entire game.
-
solid collapse, 420 would be overs from here

This England team have such a weak lower order.
And a weak top order.
Thus will probably be their highest score of the series.
Bowling round the wicket from ball one at number 11's body is not on though IMO, no matter how much bad blood there is between Anderson and the Aussies.

Winning at all costs is the straya way

Crying crocodile tears over Phil Hughes death, pledging behaviour had to change and then quickly reverting to type is also the Australian way it seems.
I don't really have an issue with the behaviour at all but every so often I sniff a whiff of hypocrisy from all involved

Lol at the sanctimonious shit about short bowling at tailenders.
The only guy to get hit in the head was the opener, who took his eyes off it like a silly bastard.
The bunnies have the sense to duck, and they don't get many body shots that leave them in no man's land.

In some ways we’re lucky that Wagner isn’t 10kmph faster...
(And/or that he hasn’t toured the home of Bodyline with those tactics)

Clearly that would cross the line. And the Aussies know where the line is. They don't ever cross the line. Do you not know this?

Liebke is always worth a laugh.

Fairly evenly poised, though you'd still have England in front given we have to bat 4th and the pitch is already playing a few tricks.
The value of tail-end runs is reinforced time and time again. At 4/360, England should have put the game away and made 450+. Instead they crumbled and left the door open.
Warner looks a bit out of sorts, too. Big pressure on Smith to make runs here, though he looks well up for it.

With all due respect to KW, Kohli and Root the angry lesbo is surely far and away the best batsman on earth right now.

@barbarian Smith is looking pretty set now. Hope Eng change up their bowling. Trying to contain with everyone aside from Anderson . But they are leaking plenty.
