I guess I must be one of the very few who regard Vaas as bloody class. When Boult first burst into the scene, I always wanted him to be half the man Vaas was.
I don't think anyone is saying Vaas wasn't bloody good in his day but he's certainly never mentioned as an all time great. Not in the Wasim/Davidson bracket that's for sure ( neither is Boult but Vaas, like TB, would be a contender for an all time Sri Lankan 11 )
Obviously I never saw Davidson play but Wasim was half of the best fast bowling duo I've ever seen.

One thing I did read was that after the first world war someone did an analysis of first class batsmen who fought in the war and a significantly higher proportion of left handers were killed than right handers.
They attributed it mainly to military gear being designed for right handers e.g. rifle bolts, but presumably in trenches there were spyholes and suchlike also designed for people who were right eye dominant and the poor old lefties had half their heads exposed whilst peering through.

I'm a lefty, but when batting and bowling, I was a righty. -

Yet in the same article they quote Larsen as saying that Kuggeleijn isn’t a genuine option as an allrounder at international level.
Excuse me, what?
Don’t have an issue with Bracewell being picked, but come on a genuine all rounder he is not! He’s a bowler who can swing the bat ala Southee and Boult.

It would take you right back to the 80s to see some fat guy amble out to the middle after putting down his beer can and proceeding to cane the bowlers.
