Maaaaaaardo on the radio saying that Cooper was the best player in the world in 2011but an injury meant he wasn't the same player. Christ that guy is full of shit. Cooper had the RWC from hell that year. Maaaaaaardo was also pumping up the fucker long after his apparently debilitating injury.
Talked to a Reds insider last year who said Cooper was a very divisive influence.
Problem is that he's still got 2 years to run on what must be pretty massive coin.

Maybe Cooper can get a spot in the Aussie 7's squad?

Aren't Auckland looking for a first 5?

And Maardo wondered why Quade got shit from NZ crowds when his cheerleaders built him up to be something he wasn't.
He had some good games but he was never ever DC.
I recall Cruden tearing some Saffer team (Bulls?) apart in Palmy that same year Fox Sports had annointed Quade. If it had been Quade the hype would have been sickening. As it was one of ours the general reaction was mmm yeah that was ok ...
The hype machine had everything to do wuth the booing, far more so than the knee.

Nah he'd fit in better with the Crusaders...what with all the foreigners and all.

@taniwharugby
I love the replay, Thorn looks like a guard dog, running from left to right off screen, then seems to sixth-sense something not quite right, loops back and goes after Cooper. #Legend -
@salacious-crumb Oz forwards certainly knew their wonder boy was gunna cop it

I'm sure she will shake things up...

Is it a win?
Well, that remains to be seen. She quit the Bulldogs after what appeared to be multiple years of fighting their Board. So at least she'll know what that feels like with RA.
In the plus column is the fact the old boys' club has been broken to a degree. No more GPS boys in the top spot because of who they know.
In the negative columns is the possibility this is tokenism from RA in order to distract from the stark shortcomings of the last decade.Either way, to me she looks capable, based on her history. I wish her the best of luck dealing with these ignorant, toffy fucktards.
In other news: Subbies clubs here in Sydney are being asked to fork out an extra $360 per team in the event that the stadium knockdown/rebuild goes ahead. This will be collected at NSWRU level by Mr Andrew Hoare, another Kiwi who has done good things for the code during a shit time, and is highly respected here.
For my little club, which will likely be in Fifth Division next year with First and Second Grade:
$ 440 x 1 club affiliation fee for Suburban Rugby
$ 650 x 2 Grades registration
$1950 x 2 Grades insurance
$1000 x 2 Grades Rugby Australia "participation fee/levy"
$ 360 x 2 Grades NSWRU$8360 just to get two teams on the park. Good thing we have a heap of left over playing kit from last year, because even asking for $120 in rego fees its going to be tough to break even.
