Was a pretty good finale!

Am a bit over Clay though...
Knew Jax was up to something with Pope, never quite believed he'd hand over Tig to the man who got OP killed.

Clay has gone from being a bit cliched to someone you almost feel sorry for.

As for Tara, well, as I said, her world has gone from rosie to Gemmas world...not quite sure why she didnt just wear the cross in and then give it to Otto, that way, when he did what he did she could say he tore it off her.

As for Otto, what a crazy mofo!

My thoughts on the finale!
Was a nice twist by Jax to save Tig, but all a bit to convenient and obvious as Popes 2IC noted. Yet was happy enough to just let it ride.

I don't understand the Tara thing, if Gemma set her up then she would have had to admit she was involved as well and they would both be going down. Jax who was ready to disown Gemma for getting wasted and nearly killing his kids now has forgiven her. Why?? Is he that needy?? It just did not work to me the plot holes were to big it and felt forced.

Also Juice is now the worst character he is just a snivelling whelp. He used to be pretty cool. I am getting to the point where I just want to know how it ends and can't be bothered to watch it to find out.

As an aside it feels like they kill 10 people an episode these days and its not a big deal, in the earlier episodes it felt like a rarity and was kind of shocking. I think they need to get away from just violence for the sake of it as it makes things a bit harder to believe. I mean all these killings by all these known felons and the police don't find a single piece of DNA to link them. Its just going to far.

I wonder if/hope book 3 is going to be split into 2 series...

Why oh why do these networks have mid-season breaks...I have ended up watching Walking Dead on TV, and am enjoying it, hopefully TVNZ 'catch up' while the US has the break given they are currently 4 weeks behind and just start screening it when the US resumes, unlikely I know...

on SOA
On Gemma, I was hoping she'd buggar off to Ireland, she, like Clay is a bit too cliched.

ANd yeah, Jax has just accepted her back, surely Tara woulda said something to Jax about her threats.

I guess any series you need to ignore some of the plot hoiles, even if these ones seem to be getting bigger....
-
Homeland Finale - knowing another series was on the cards was wondering how they would set it up. Pretty good finale, and can see where they are going in S3, but how they can make that a whole series?

Surely they can see Brody is being set up?

Although initially they were pointing you toward it being Brody with him signalling at the perfect time for Carrie to leave the room for a quick shag...but the release of the video shows someone is setting him up, unless Brody is being very tricky? I expect there would be plenty of CCTV available around that building to show someone moving Brody's car.

I do wonder how Carrie thinks she'll be able to waltz back in and not have them know she didnt help Brody escape and while her intentions are to clear his name, surely the CIA wont let her see daylight again until she talks, and even then...?
-

I think they did it pretty well considering.
I think the perfect ending would have been when Saul was on the phone to Carrie and listening to her voicemail message. Fading to black then would have been great.

On the car, it must have been moved by someone who passed security as well, so who was that person? Is there still a mole?

I liked the scenes with Quinn, I thought he was a great character as he progressed throughout the show. Hopefully they bring him back next year.

Next year will be interesting to see how they use Brodie, I wonder if it will be a parallel story of him on the run.
-
Yeah I like Quinn, you always wondered what he was upto and which side he was on...

On the Brody thing...
The fact he went to his old mate and asked him to look after his family again, is another pointer towards him doing it, but I think things are pointing that way for a reason, and I still think it is a set up.

I think there is still someone leaking info, I also thought it was odd Estes was speaking to Saul when he let him go with that other agent standing at the door given the content of the conversation.
Certainly enjoyed the direction they took this series, given I think I, like most had my doubts over a 2nd series, if they can do that for another will be great, but am not holding my breath they have enough for a complete series with what we were left with. -

Watched it last night thoughts below
Over all I liked it lots of unexpected twists, However it did seem a bit like they only figured out at the last minute they got a 3rd series. Carries expectation the CIA would take her back, where did that come from Estes knew she was mentally unstable, even if he wanted to she was a security risk, never going to happen. Saul and Estes conversation with the guard 3 foot away was dumb. Saul going from only caring about Carries health to wanting her to be a section chief? Umm why? Yes she's good but she is uncontrollable even when on her meds.

Can't wait to see how she explains to Saul where she was ? Again surely CCTV will show him and her leaving together?

Finally when I have extra people in my car I know it, it handles differently feels different accelerating braking etc.. Surely if you have enough explosives to level a building in the boot of your car you notice it ? Or is this stuff so high powered that it weighs less then a person?
-
watched the last series of Dexter, I enjoyed it.

Also liked the Isaac Sirko character.
I think what made it was Dexters life unravelling and everything he tried, something else happened, and him questioning his 'code'

I think they could have ended the series after this one, with him and Hannah ' riding off into the sunset'

Glad they got rid of La Guerta finally, but will be interesting to see how they deal with that though.

Shame they killed Sirko off the way they did.
-
Approaching the last two episodes of The Sopranos.

Had never watched it until Sky made the box set available On Demand. Since then have killed the entire series. Very excited to be sitting down, alone, with no interruptions to see how it plays out.

See you on the flipside. -

Faaaaaaark!
Brilliant. I never watched the series but remember hearing all the buzz about the final episode being on and stumbled upon it whilst flicking channels, so left it on. Pissed myself laughing at that ending. -

So Sorkin fans - what's the verdict on Newsroom. Personally I'm loving it. It has all the trademarks of his drama's but I'll put up with a lot just for the quality of his monologues. Just like Jed Bartlett was the President we should have, Newsroom is the TV news we will never get.
Finally got round to watching The Newsroom. First up, I'm a big Sorkin fan, I loved the West Wing and Sportsnight and thought Studio 60 was a good season of TV.

Basically The Newsroom is just Aaron Sorkin's attack on the Tea Party (and partially Fox News) and good on him I say. And in all of his stuff he actually makes Republicans come across as better than they appear in the media - has any Republican of recent years been as on to it as Alan Alda's character on The West Wing.

My biggest problem with it is that its sentimentality goes overboard a bit, stuff that worked on The West Wing and Sportsnight doesn't really work as well here, but that could be familiarity of the writer more than anything else.

I'm looking forward to the 2nd series and hope he jettisons the too sentimental stuff. I'm looking forward to more Olivia Munn too, every show should have more Olivia Munn. -
Yeah, I did the classic thing and thought the DVD was bung. Thought about it a bit since and reckon it was about as good an ending as they could have made. I know what I think happens but don't know how to do that 'spoilers; thingy on posts otherwise I would say. Mind you, it's been years since the ending aired so probably no biggie. -
Watched the first ep of Banshee and it looks worth a go. Good production values and scripting. Characters are interesting.

Obviously the first ep was establishing the bones of the story and without giving anything away, the basic premise is a newly released con that has a situation land in his lap where he can take the identity of an out of town Sheriff just arriving at the town of Banshee (it makes better sense when you watch it). He has his reasons for wanting to be there as well.

You never really thought you were watching Van/Jethro either, so that was good on Antony Starr's part.
