Parker v ??

Would have been farcical if Fury had won a Heavyweight belt with that performance. He spent the first nine rounds going backwards around the ring, presumably hoping Parker would run out of gas and he'd pick him off at the end.
That didn't happen. He barely laid anything substantial on Parker - even when he started to engage a little bit towards the end - I reckon Joe will feel a bit like he's been on a 25km run through a forest - scratched on the face by a few branches.
Awful as a spectacle, but Fury was particularly bad.

And Fury's promoter wants some answers about the decision.
To expand:
Mick Hennessy told BBC Radio 5 live: "I thought he skated it, it was an absolute masterclass, shades of Ali. It was beautiful boxing in the heavyweight division."Parker wasn't even in the fight, any punches he was throwing were either missing or hitting elbows or hitting gloves, it was very rare he got through with a clean shot. Hughie absolutely skated that fight.
"That is probably one of, if not the worst, decisions I've ever seen in my life, it was disgusting, absolutely disgusting."

Another bullshit decision.
Fury outthought and outscored Parker IMHO.
On that performance Parker will get pummelled by AJ

I agree the scorecards were bullshit , parker didnt win 118-110 , I thought it was close ,
But dont think Fury did much at all, you have to do more than that to take someones title ,
Both fighters didnt land much , Fury a few jabs with nothing on them , he did appear in large parts of the fight to have better movement etc, but simply didnt let the hands go enough ,
Parker did land the heavier blows although missed a hell of a lot too, when waiting for the scorecards I thought , how is this going to go ? both fighters could make a case ,
But agree AJ wont be losing any sleep over either of them

You can't take the title by running like a girl and throwing little backhand taps.
Parker is the champ, boxing has always been adjudicated that way.

Even Hughie's old man said he needed to use his right hand more.
To answer my own question below, O'Connor scored the fight 118-110 so it was one of the yank judges that somehow thought the fight was a draw.
Must have been this judge

Have to agree. JP may have lacked the ability to get close enough but when a guy is tapping and running away why risk charging in when it is up to him to take the title off you.
You want the belt Hughie, come and get it.
What Fury did may have taken skill but it wasnt going to win a title. This rubbish about being like Ali is just crap. Ali may have done that sometimes but he followed it up in later rounds by pummelling the tiring opposition. I don't think he ran away for the whole show.Edit: JP should have backed off and goaded Fury to come at him. A bit of 'bring it on boy, why are you running away?'

Mayweather made a career out of it.

@crucial the risk with that approach is that JP and his camp didnt want to leave it to a points decision as they expected there to be some fury favouratism there. They were super keen on finishing it in the ring and removing that risk but JP couldnt find a way to do it.
Fortunately the judges didn't score it that way and it appears his aggression and moving forward got him through.

Did you see Fury's camp swipe the belt from Parker as he was holding it up for the cameras?
Real classy. I'm not sure how anyone could support scum like that.

Mayweather was considerably more aggressive earlier in his career.
Even later in his career he generally threw (and connected with) a lot more punches than Fury.

Its Ok. Parkers camp all went to a nice hotel afterwards while the Furys went back to their caravans.
and this...

Should get an interesting indication on Parker/AJ comparison this weekend with AJ taking on Carlos Takam.
JP was criticised based on Takam's durability. Let's see how AJ works on him.Talk in the papers here that a potential plan for AJ after this fight is to take on JP in Feb18 followed by Wilder mid year. If the AJ fight can't be organised for the Feb date (O2 already booked) then they will look to get Wilder to fight Whyte on that date and look to line AJ up mid year somewhere in the middle east.
-
Yep will be an interesting fight this weekend.
WOnder if AJ will really look to make a statement and try finish it early. Takam has only been stopped once, can AJ be the 2nd man to do it? $9 for fight to go the distance is great value. I got on fight to go over 4.5 rounds @ $2.50 not long after it was announced but its now down to $1.90.
I think its 10am our time on Sunday. Looking forward to it
