(Highlanders and) Ta$man have signed prop Tyrel Lomax for the 2019 and 2020 seasons.

@Stargazer Northland were very close to signing Lomax for Mitre 10 cup, just frustrating that the Blues did not have enough foresight to work with the Taniwha to get him across the line.
Saw Lomax playing for the Australian U20s last year against NZ in pre World Cup tournament at Bond University Gold Coast, looked a very impressive athlete, who can definitely scrum. -

Damn, so the fat Piri we used to make fun of was only really middle sized Piri.
Did he buy a house in walking distance from KFC?
Walk?

Dalton Papali'i was on the bench for the Auckland Colts this weekend, so it looks like that's the way he's playing himself back to being match fit.
Is he related to the Papali'i running around for the Warriors? I did a quick google search but didn't see anything.

Papali'i
I can't find anything, but they were both in the 2015 Blues U18 squad. Went to different high schools.
-
Brad Shields won't be back in a hurry, but Wes Goosen and Trent Renata might not be far away.

Ryan Tongia is missing from the Stags team to play Auckland tonight following his dangerous tackle charge in the game against Canterbury last week. Tongia received a yellow card for his a dangerous tackle in the 54th minute on Canterbury first five-eighth Richie Mo'unga. However, at a judicial hearing it was deemed the tackle warranted more than the yellow card which prompted the one game suspension. However, New Zealand Rugby Duty Judicial Officer Jonathan Moses accepted Tongia's admission of the charge and found the offending to be at the lower end of the scale. Taking into account Tongia's guilty plea, and that the opposition player was not injured, the suspension was reduced to one week.
