Wellington Sevens becomes Hamilton Sevens (2018-2019)

A few facts for anyone heading there

@taniwharugby Amusingly, of the seven things listed, (i) the Waitomo Caves aren't in Hamilton; and (ii) is that you can get to other places that aren't Hamilton easily.
The gardens sound quite nice - they're not infested with muggers are they?

I'm surprised they didn't mention Lisa Lewis in that article.

no idea, I havent stopped into Hamilton for more than an hour for over 20 years!
Hamilton is changing fast. I get there regularly now, and it ain't what it used to be. Massive housing developments, big infrastructure builds from people like Tainui - it's moving up fast.
Remember how Wellington changed - from mid 80s to mid 90s it went from 'do not stop - beauracracy central' to Absolutely Positively Wellington. Not saying Tron will go that far, but it sure as shit is better than it was, and (I think) not as good as it will be.
That said, I still think about packing a knife when I go there

Hamilton is probably a good city to go to for an event. There isn't much to do there but you are only there for a weekend and the city itself is easy enough to get

Moving it around every few years seems like a good idea given the novelty value seems to wear off quickly.

@crucial As long as Sky is the broadcaster. The quality of the broadcasts of the June test matches in Suva wasn't great.
I assume that NZRU and Waikato (is that how it works?) still own the product so it will be in their best interests to have world class coverage.
They are effectively looking to lease a different venue for their product rather than hand it over to someone else to run.
