Bench Press challenge...
-
Slater and O'Connors power:weight is amazing - ripping out 30+ reps at 60 odd kg is impressive, even if you are a pro athlete!<br />
<br />
Although O'Connor didn't display much intelligence with pushing the sled! thought he should be pushing from the top which dug the front of it into the ground... -
we used to do 60kg rep max workouts - 70 odd was my best IIRC - mind you, I was weighing in at about 110 then, ready for battle!<br />
<br />
Might do one of these as I lean down for comp - have chest tomorrow in fact - maybe I'll do this instead o the negative reps on the machine to pre exhaust. I think it'll work!! -
it's a date - 6:05 tomorrow morning, think of me (not THAT way you prev), I'll see what the 91kg BartMan can do, as opposed to the 110kg monster...
<br />
<br />
97kg MN5 may give it a go as well......<br />
<br />
Bart, 70 reps of 60 is farkin impressive by the way ! -

Hell yeah!! Did that outstrip other players or guys you were training with BartMan? that is a truckload of reps! -
It killed them - think prop Cyril smaashed out 50 odd first time out, the number eight that we were training with was 40 odd.<br />
<br />
This morning 38 reps.<br />
<br />
Funny though, when I did heaps, when you first picked up the bar, it would feel like nothing - 60kg was like the bar. Feels a bit heavier now from the kick off, and when you fail, it's quick - going fine, and then within five or ten reps, pow, all over! -

Blimey.. Had a go at 70kgs.. Could only do 55 reps.. But I had to push it with everything I had..<br />
Felt like nothing until I hit 25-30 reps.. And then burnt quick as hell<br />

<br />
Didin't realise we had a pro powerlifter on these boards. Keen readers of my thread will note I haven't benched in ages but I'm hoping all the push up stuff I've been doing will see an increase. -
55reps of 70kg <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/rugby/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':hi:' /><br />
<br />
Thats awesome mate -
Hell yeah! That is a massive effort! Fark, that is some elite lifting right there bro.
-
nup.. im not a powerlifter.. im just a math teacher..<br />
<br />
but like most samoans i do weight training at home lol..<br />
i do 5x5 stronglifts.. and it has helped improve my benching..<br />
<br />
i started training again cos the 1st XV boys always wanna take me on in the weights room lol (arm wrestling challenges are common as well) -
ha ha I was gonna play the race card!! <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/rugby/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/eusa_whistle.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistle:' /><br />
<br />
What is your usual workout reps/weight? 55@70kg is very, very impressive!!<br />
<br />
Good on ya for teaching the young'uns a lesson - if you have any lads that can beat your bench stats then I think the ABs could be interested! -

Instant advantage there !!<br />
<br />
Yep, gonna have to try and at least get as close as I possibly can to that I think. -
My trainer said today may be the last session we have together for a while if we go into lockdown so she wanted to see how many tonnes I could lift in our 30 mins session.
It's a funny thing to do to add up all you weight that you moved
Started with Bench 80kg for 8 then she throws on two 2.5kg and I have to do 3 and then I do eight back at 80kg. That was three times so
((80x8)+(85x3)+(80x8)x3 = 4.605 TonnesDeadlift also 80 but 3 reps of 20
20x80x3 = 4.8 TonnesDumbell Lat Pull 30 on right then left hand. 10 on each side for three sets
((30x10)+(30x10))x3 = 1.8 TonnesDumbell Chest Press 17.5kg dumbells 3 sets of 15
((17.5x15)+(17.5x15))x3 = 1.575 TonnesThen pushed body weight on the sled (120kgs) There and back, twice
I feel ripped off for this one as this required the most effort and I was cream crackered after
120x2x2 =0.480 Tonnes
Total 13.260 Tonnes.
All very meaningless but my guess beforehand was way off. I said something like 4 Tonnes without putting any thought into it.
I hope we don't go into a heavy lckdown as I am really enjoying my workouts at the moment as with the weights and cardio it is all helping with my golf immensely. Dropped 8 shots off the hanidicapp without a lesson. Just by getting fitter and hitting the ball much longer
