@Bovidae Only out for 6-8 weeks. Should be available for the wc...not that it's going to make much difference.

So gone for the NRL season but will be on the Kiwis roster for the WC. Would rather they announce he's done for the year so he can focus on getting 100% for 2018.

I have no idea what Laurie Daley said in the sheds at halftime of Game 2 but NSW weren't the same afterwards.
This series should have been a canter for the Blues but they choked in the home straight against a so-so Queensland side (compared to previous years).
The fact that one Sydney journo compared Mitchell Pearce to Darren Lockyer at the start of the series is just foolish.

soooo, it's all unraveling a bit for NSW. In a massive shock, it turns out Josh Dugan and Blake Ferguson, two guys who definitely don't have form for this kind of thing, spent their day off over camp in the pub getting on the sauce.

Andrew Fifita was going to be relegated to the bench by the coach, to be used as an impact player. Apparently he kicked up such a stink the coaches had to start him to try and return some kind of harmony. He repaid them by doing 3/5 of fuck all.

And still Laurie Daley tried to take the heat for the players after the game.

    Cultureless

Fuck me, you'd think Daley should have the mana to pull these guys together. And maybe that is the case for most of them. He fronted the media but no one from the actual team backed him up! That will really fire up the old skoolers.

To have a couple of guys on an all-day bender (if that is actually what happened) is just plain stupid. No problem with a few beers in down time, but it seems some of these dudes can't connect the dots about personal and team responsibility. Then again that is par for the course for Loige.

Warriors? Meh. They keep cutting off a finger or toe when the issue is a full body infection!! I had high hopes for Doyle but it looks like he's been dragged into the mire also. Fight towards the light Jim!!

We give them grief when they're grubs off the field, but should probably acknowledge the good stories like this too.

@Donsteppa I thought this was a massive thing he did. Good on him. He should have stayed at the Bulldogs but good on him.

Warriors up in deepest, darkest North Queensland tonight to face a still relatively strong Cowboys outfit. Season pretty much over for the Warriors, unless Mason Lino is the second-coming of Stacey Jones which is highly unlikely.

    1 ROGER TUIVASA-SHECK (c)

    2 DAVID FUSITU’A

    3 BLAKE AYSHFORD

    4 SOLOMONE KATA

    6 KIERAN FORAN

    7 MASON LINO

    8 JACOB LILLYMAN

    9 ISSAC LUKE

    10 BEN MATULINO

    11 BODENE THOMPSON

    12 BUNTY AFOA

    13 SIMON MANNERING

    Interchange:

    14 MAFOA’AEATA HINGANO

    15 SAM LISONE

    16 JAMES GAVET

    17 LIGI SAO

    18 JAZZ TEVAGA

    20 CHRIS SATAE

    21 ISAIAH PAPALI’I

    22 CHARNZE NICOLL-KLOKSTAD

    North Queensland Cowboys
    Lachlan Coote
    Kyle Feldt
    Justin O'Neill

Quite an exciting finish to it. Warriors down by 6 with time almost up and put up a bomb after five tackles. They seemed to have recovered possession and were close to the Cowboys' line, but a pass was picked off and the Cowboys wing, Bowen, ran the length of the pitch to score. I went from thinking, "this is actually on" to "oh sh!t" in about a second!

Your post reads like it's the first time you've seen the Warriors play ... they were always going to lose.

Saw a replay of the hit by Sia Soliola on Billy Slater this morning. Was idly thinking that - if you can do that sort of hit and somehow not get binned or sent off - then perhaps the players retaliating should be allowed to throw actual punches rather than the push and grab nonsense... If that tackle stays on the field, surely anything goes under such cowardly officiating...

Loved seeing Raiders fans on twitter/facebook saying that Slater slipped into the tackle. The refs in the NRL have been reluctant to send off players for years now and that order no doubt came from NRL HQ.

Didn't watch the game but the Warriors are now looking to next year as usual. Actually the top 8 seems set, which is rare at this point of the season, although Penrith still have a shot at making the playoffs.

Warriors, Bulldogs, Raiders and Titans are the biggest disappointments of 2017.

Tricky Ricky gave the officials a serve in the pressa after the game. Hopefully it's on YouTube or somewhere.

I'm sure he justified that tackle on Slater too.

@Bovidae Watched it on the NRL site - hate to admit it but I agree with him about the reffing in the game right now. However, I think he was just deflecting from the Slater injury.

Dogs are now gone. And maybe Des Hasler as well. On a year where you miss the finals, and average less than 14 points a game, your job should be in trouble. Telling their only try last night was a committed solo effort from a guy they are cutting. Shit club.

Panthers cling to a chance to play finals. For a team expected to push for the GF, they have been a massive disappointment.

No wonder I don't watch this shit.

Dude gets caught by a knee in the head from a bloke running forward. Bloke not only penalised gets put on report. Bad dudes score from bullshit penalty.

@booboo I guess they think he deliberately raised his knee into contact and I can see why they would think that. NRL have been tough on that in the past. A few moons ago Craig? Smith, the Kiwi prop, was practically forced out of the NRL because he had a bad habit doing it.

Another great season by the Warriors. Also, very kind of them to wrap it up before I go on a winter holiday.

    Some thoughts:

    • A game that defined the season as a whole: Good defensive work undone by utter shit offence. Warriors have started to gel as a team when defending but still play as individuals when they have the pill.
    • Feel sorry for Simon Mannering. The bloke is putting in 110% every game yet his teammates don't have the same urgency. About 90 seconds to go in the first half, Warriors have a scrum and Mannering is ready to pack down (to stop the clock) but 12 other guys aren't.
    • Warriors are freeing up cap to take advantage of teams currently in cap hell (i.e Bulldogs and Roosters). Need guys who will not arse about when time is of the essence.
    • But first thing is to fire Tony Iro as recruitment/head scout and bring back John Ackland. Need to find guys who can play a certain role, not just over-priced Kiwi NRL veterans. Ackland can do that.
    • Speaking of over-priced Kiwi NRL veterans, the Isaac Luke signing has been a bust. Time to look at possible trade options for him (most likely SuperLeague).
    • Kata can also be traded. Too one-dimensional and unwilling to change. Plus Klokstad-Nicoll is a more versatile player.
    • But that was a great intercept try by Kata. Yet what would happen if that trainer (who was slowing down) got in the way and stopped Kata from scoring? Penalty try?
    • This is why trainers shouldn't be allowed on the field during play. Yes if a guy is injured but don't fucking swan about like you're in the starting 13.
    • Scary moment with Sharks halfback Nu Brown getting knocked out by an accidental Sam Lisone knee to the temple. Crowd was a bit shocked when he started convulsing (I don't know if that made it onto Sky Sports) but I know his family/friends were at the game.
    • However, Brown's tackle technique was so awkward that Lisone can't be held responsible for it.
    • Bodene Thompson was injured a few seconds prior to that - he did his shoulder in on a try-saving tackle attempt. Most likely won't be re-signed by the club.
