BTW, 2016 Wellington player Salesi Rayasi is playing club rugby in Auckland for Marist, and was in the 2017 Blues U20 squad. He's the leading try scorer in Auckland club rugby so far this year.
Jebus I remember him as a small shy kid coming along to 7's training with dad. I'm old.

Auckland Club Rugby top point scorer, William Talataina-Mu, is playing for Southland this season. He plays 10 and 12.
Ponies missed first five William Talataina-Mu, who has signed with the Southland Stags for the Mitre 10 Cup.

@Tim crazy to think Auckland will let Talataina Mu go,but sign a 31 year Daniel Bowden, with the greatest of respect, you wonder why they lose so many young guys, one kid that I have seen running around for College Rifles is first five Otu Mausia, has played Auckland U19s,looks very tidy and kicks goals,be interesting to see where he is in the pecking order.
-
@Steven-Harris Has the Bowden signing been confirmed now?
-
@Tim got the oil through a source about a month ago,but he also mentioned it on Sky when he was a studio guest, what are your thoughts on his selection..?,can only think because Simon Hickey has stayed in France, they were just looking for experience..
-
@Steven-Harris Yeah, that's my thinking. Seems that all the 1st 5s except Tyrone Elkington-MacDonald are rather young. Was hoping to see Talataina-Mu in action this year.
-
@Tim interesting all these guys returning,Mike Delany for the BoP,Stephen Donald resigning with Waikato, and Baden Kerr is back playing for Karaka will be in this years Counties Manukau Mitre 10 cup squad,I am wondering if Stephen Perofeta has signed with Auckland given he's in the Blues..?,or maybe back with Taranaki, watched the harbour final yesterday,Bryn Gatlands game management in wet conditions was very good, apart from missing sitter, nailed 5 kicks from others effortlessly.
-
@Steven-Harris Perofeta is still contracted to Taranaki.
-
Bowden is a good signing if he can stay fit. Unfortunately thats a big if.
I believe he only made it through 1 and 1/2 games of club rugby?
So since his spectacular form with the Tigers he barely made the field for the Blues, did not make the field for the Taniwha, returned to the UK and barely made the field for Bath. Now he taken a year off and just dipped his toe back into club rugby.
Talataina-Mu leaving makes me think that Auckland will pick Plummer this year. I haven't watched any of Grammar TEC's game but it sounds like he's going well based on the match reports. It's also worth noting he is captaining the side.
-
@Duluth when he signed a few years back, was promising signs for all concerned (Blues, Northland & Bowden) but alas injury put paid to any of that.
LIke you say, if he can be fit, he will provide a very good option for Auckland, are there any places at the Blues he could take if he has a great MItre 10 Cup? Experience alone would be good for the young pups coming through.

Doubt there is room at the Blues. 3 10's confirmed for next year (Black, Perofeta, Gatland) and the 12's are also contracted (SBW & TJ)
