NRL 2017

What happened? We make a great comeback from 18-12 down to go up 22-18.
Then SJ goes off hurt and then we barely fire another shot.
Agree @Sneakdefreak we lack intensity and accuracy. We have these moments of 4-5 minutes that things go okay, but then the lapses come and teams punish us.
-
@Sneakdefreak is it like Parra where in club politics are fucking us up? Does Kearney have control or do the players? Is really just a very average coach?
I feel like its poor coach and shit house club culture.
-
@raznomore Nothing like Parramatta. I have no real idea how to fix the problem. If I could solve the Warriors, I could probably solve poverty, terrorism, and all other world problems.
-
losing cultures are a complex thing to turn around , there are clubs in every code with the same issues asking the same questions

I thought Doyle's arrival would be the first step to turning us around but it isn't happening

I went to a talk on leadership by Paul Blackwell recently, the owner of the Breakers. He said when he took over they were absolutely rotten to the core. There was no accountability from the top down, and the coach was essentially bullied by both the players and the management. He had to do a massive clean-out from the top down and rebuild from scratch to create the right environment and culture.
I suspect the Blues and Warriors both have similar issues to what he described, which is why coach after coach gets effectively the same results.
In the Q&A afterwards an obviously long suffering Warriors fan was pleading with him to take over the club after leaving the Breakers.
Also, for any Breakers or NBL fans interested he said Tony Ronaldson (aka The Bear) was absolutely instrumental in getting the culture and professionalism right, that they couldn't have done it without him and he was sad that they were never able to win a title when he was with the team.
-
its interesting here in Aus , the clubs in AFL and NRL that tend to have strong consistent winning cultures tend to be strong and successful at administration level as well , its not just the football dept , and it filters through from top to bottom
-
It's like any business or organisation, its culture starts at the very top and filters down.
The Warriors need a strong leader who isn't afraid to ruffle a few feathers and clean out the bad eggs. Not everyone will need to go as I'm sure there will be some there that are very willing and able to buy into a new culture.I work for an organisation that was in disarray 6 or 7 years ago, the attitude of its leaders was questionable. We then had a new leadership team come together with the right attitude and provided a very clear direction. Of course there were those that jumped ship or were pushed because they weren't willing to change, but there were a whole lot that stayed, put their heads down and their arses up, bought into where the business was heading and are now enjoying great success.
It is achievable, it just needs someone with big enough balls to get it done!

@Bovidae Only out for 6-8 weeks. Should be available for the wc...not that it's going to make much difference.
So gone for the NRL season but will be on the Kiwis roster for the WC. Would rather they announce he's done for the year so he can focus on getting 100% for 2018.

I have no idea what Laurie Daley said in the sheds at halftime of Game 2 but NSW weren't the same afterwards.
This series should have been a canter for the Blues but they choked in the home straight against a so-so Queensland side (compared to previous years).
The fact that one Sydney journo compared Mitchell Pearce to Darren Lockyer at the start of the series is just foolish.soooo, it's all unraveling a bit for NSW. In a massive shock, it turns out Josh Dugan and Blake Ferguson, two guys who definitely don't have form for this kind of thing, spent their day off over camp in the pub getting on the sauce.
Andrew Fifita was going to be relegated to the bench by the coach, to be used as an impact player. Apparently he kicked up such a stink the coaches had to start him to try and return some kind of harmony. He repaid them by doing 3/5 of fuck all.
And still Laurie Daley tried to take the heat for the players after the game.
Cultureless

Fuck me, you'd think Daley should have the mana to pull these guys together. And maybe that is the case for most of them. He fronted the media but no one from the actual team backed him up! That will really fire up the old skoolers.
To have a couple of guys on an all-day bender (if that is actually what happened) is just plain stupid. No problem with a few beers in down time, but it seems some of these dudes can't connect the dots about personal and team responsibility. Then again that is par for the course for Loige.
Warriors? Meh. They keep cutting off a finger or toe when the issue is a full body infection!! I had high hopes for Doyle but it looks like he's been dragged into the mire also. Fight towards the light Jim!!

We give them grief when they're grubs off the field, but should probably acknowledge the good stories like this too.
