Could be an interesting season with a few more twists and turns yet ,
Havent seen them myself, but all reports are saying the Boks are turning the corner ,and starting to look the real deal
England at twickers later onNot trolling here, but I find that incredible.
I can understand the average Kiwi supporter being unfamiliar with a lot of the BIL players, and vice versa.
But not to have watched the SA provinces and /or SA national team and not know the calibre of your upcoming opponents when you play in the same competition each year is baffling.
I havnt watched their tests against france this year ,I know who they are , know their players , they have been a bit crap for two years by their standards ,
Missed their tests this year so far , by all reports they are on the improve, not so sure what the big deal is -

Here's the silver lining.
Oh great.... Ian foster.
But don't worry, I'm sure Scott McLeod is a genius

Perenara was poor, again tonight. He's obviously got talent but far too often is found wanting when the pressure is on.
The concern is that we don't really have someone knocking on the door underneath Smith and him. I would've kept Smith for the 80 tonight.
Was a lot of talk that TJ was now the better HB and should start , during the season
I think we have to keep reminding ourselves during Super rugby , this is not test rugby .

They essentially play in a different competition and their fixtures are between 1-5am in the morning NZT.
The average NZ fan can be forgiven for losing their grip on the SA game a touch under the new Super structure - especially if watching all the NZ games, U20s, any NH Rugby, 7s or heaven forbid another sport.
I do look forward to your season preview for Treviso and Zebre in the spring.

@ACT-Crusader He was poor and he was on for 2 minutes? Really?

I'm guessing we will take this as a loss and they almost take it as a win ,
That's the part that sucks the most , it's more of a loss to us than them
Doubt it. The Lions players looked pretty disappointed as well. And why wouldn't they be. Good teams often stay in games when they are don't play the best. They would expect to win and they didn't, so naturally wouldn't be claiming any moral (Aussie) victory.
Why would they be disappointed? They chose the long range penalty over going for the win in the 76th minute? Clearly a draw was enough at least for Warburton.
Think they were hoping for a further chance at a last minute long range penalty...
Banking on a Frenchman making a controversial call to determine the result of a game 2 weeks in a row....

Shame we probably won't hear the outcome of his refereeing assessment that on that moment...and wtf was he up to at full Time? Was he sure the abs would score and his penalty faux pa would be forgotten so when it was 80 he was like, um, shit, do I really have to blow for 80, now?
Was a poor poor decision, not one becoming of an international ref, As others have pointed out, he failed to play advantage for the off side, he went upstairs, he changed his mind incorrectly and bottled the moment...aside from letting the Lions slow the game down hugely, he was decent

Don't agree with that at all. I'm not saying he was playing well, but IMO he wasn't poor either. He played so few minutes (less than 6 minutes), that he hardly had the time to come into game.
IMO, TJP is one of the players in the squad (another one is Julian Savea) that some people just like to criticise. Sometimes that's warranted, but on other occasions any stick will do to beat a dog.
You might not agree with it but go back and watch the last few minutes again. I don't know what he was doing behind that scrum but it wasn't being a halfback. How did the Lions get the ball if TJ was doing his job?
It was very poor and unfortunately for TJ (and I'm a fan of his running game and usually his play) we have seen this sort of thing from him before at test level. He needs to calm it and just play.

Their teams are shit, we hardly play them, the games are on at 3 am and their tests were after the Lions. Most people only have time to watch 2-3 games a weekend. Better to watch the NZ teams.

@Gunner He's contracted to the NZRU so play him. Other players are buggering off and Hansen doesn't take the time to criticise them personally in the media.
The non-selection was arrogant, and the team is performing poorly. You use your best players, you don't pretend you're too good for them and lose at home.
Re Luatua. I agree he should have been in the squad but would he have made the bench in front of Barrett?
-
Ok. I finally got to watch this. And ended up feeling like I kissed my sister
We wuz robbed! (assuming Beauden would have got the kick...)
-
Interesting stat I read: Lions lead the ABS for 3 minutes in this series.
Doesn't seem right?

Probably should have, given they picked Barrett for the bench then didn't trust him.

The worse thing is I owe someone a million dollars.
Line open and Savea drops a sitter! Thanks mate. Not.

I am pretty drunk and angry so take this with a grain of salt:
I thought in the last few minutes of the test Poite was pretty terrible.
He made a decision about a penalty for offside, which for some reason he decided not to play advantage for.
He then decided to refer the PK upstairs, which he had basis in law to do so.
He then saw that the PK was correct (even if harsh) but he felt bad about it because it was marginal and felt because it would decide the series he reversed his decision and awarded a scrum instead.
It was a clear penalty. He just bottled it due to a lack of balls.
I think we had plenty of chances to win in the first half, but even so; I'm pretty miffed about it.
Perhaps when I've sobered up I might have a different view.
For a drunk rant that seems fairly logical and reasonable. Try harder you're not doing it right.

I watched one of their games against France and they looked good but France rarely travel well. How much rugby do you watch in an average weekend? South Africa do have a lot of dross hence them losing two teams and they mostly play in the middle of the night, I guess you could record the games but I'm not going to spend my weekends watching teams I have no investment in play rubbish rugby.
