My brother in law has scheduled a party for his birthday on saturday kicking off at 7:30.
    He doesn't have sky.
I got a severe frowning from the mrs when I suggested we perhaps skip it.
Did I mention he doesn't have sky?

    FFs.

Are you sure you can go - it looks like you have a 24 hour flu just starting

I was going to tell her I have explosive diarrhoea , she might doubt it but it's not really worth the risk if I'm not faking.

    What a turd.

I'm sure you won't be alone if you slink off to another room and watch a stream on SkyGo (if SkyGo actually goes).
Failing that drop her off and go to the pub.

His friends are like him so I will probably be alone.

I can lend you some pants.

My brother in law has his birthday party on now, but I said no, the Samoa game is on. They can pick me up for the after party.
Mind you, I bought a comfy couch for occasions such as this.

I am not sure what you expected on a rugby forum when you tell a tale of woe that your wife wont let you watch the biggest game in a number of years.... because her brother is having birthday party. Turn up at 9:30. If he sulks about that, knowing how much you love your rugby.. and your wife takes his side... well you wont be on the one being a tool.

Well I didn't expect anyone to take it that seriously for a start. It's not like we are talking Comey vs Trump or anything.

Anyway the jackass isn't her brother so she agreed that going to the pub to watch the game and going to the party afterwards is a better plan .

Agree about the birthday part though . Wow another year older, fatter greyer and deeper in debt isn't something to have a party about .

Fuck, sounds like it's not worth going at all. If the guy isn't interested in the Rugby and nor are his mates what are you even doing there?

That is scarily close to the truth, he is your classic craft beer/beer brewing @mn5 type .

This reminds me of a time years ago when rugby first went to sky then delayed . This guy I carpooled with to my block course invited me to a gathering at his house , it was the same night as a 3n test. Get there the TVs off, no sky and his mrs says " is there a game on ? We're not rugby people" . All but me and two other people had done their due diligence and were watching the game . Was extremely fucking awkward with all the piles of food for the guests that didn't turn up and I left as soon as I could to watch the replay.

Yeah I noticed that as well - thing is by the looks of it the ref is looking right at the lions players who are about to position themselves in the Crusaders backline.

The only way that is legit is if the halback has lifted the ball and has been delaying his pass. Even if he has just lifted it there is no way the ref can see that from his position and certainly no way the defensive players further out can tell. Some of those guys are in the motion of their third step

That is a great shot. It does show how Lions try and get a jump on out of the ruck.

But it also highlighhts two other things:

    1. The spreading out means there is a weakness very close to the ruck. In photo no Saders close in enough to attack this; and

    2. Something I noticed in Maori rewatch and haven't seen commented on elsewhere: The Lions player in ruck has pulled his knees forward. Thus the back of the ruck (and offside line) is perhaps two feet further forward than had he left legs outstretched. Compare with Saders. Two feet takes a lot of time away from first receiver.

For Lions to have a chance will require then to slow our ruck ball and use time to set up rush. POM and SOB are experts at this. Our cleanout needs to be ruthless.
