Chiefs v B&I Lions

Going easy on the home town boy?
Hail the Conquering Hero Returns and all that
-
Very firmly a mid-week team with only Liam Williams in with a shot of making the Test 23.
Daly and AWJ will be there, and Biggar if Farrell is injured.
Cory Hill covering second and back row.
If the Lions play as a team, and players like Nowell, Payne and Henshaw show why they were selected in the first place then this could be a comfortable win.
If players go looking for a Test spot it could unravel pretty quickly.
And there are certainly 2nd abd 3rd Test spots up for grabs.

I'm trying really hard but I can't think of a crapper winger than Nowell.....and he's not even Welsh!
Tours are fascinating.
Remarkable how some players can go so off the boil and others come charging through.

Most 'experts' had Henshaw locked in for 12 but he ain't got a chance

He's a lot better than he has shown on tour, but he is definitely NOT your classic winger, for one thing he doesn't have the pace at the highest level. His game is all about popping up all over the place, beating the first defender and then seeing what eventuates after that. He took a little while to find his niche with England and has benefitted under Eddie Jones who appreciates what he brings and uses it.
Having said all that, for the Lions with the short assimilation time and also the more direct way Gatland likes to play, I would have taken Johnny May in preference purely because he would fit that bit better. Oh and he does have pace.

With most players getting limited game time they ahem to lay their marker down early. If for whatever reason the game goes away from you, it's a long way back. Some are lucky enough to turn things around. Look at O'Mahoney after his first game, many had written him off and now some have him as captaining the test side. Sadly for Henshaw for a number of reasons he has not been able to turn things round as yet.

Bah, shitty team, should have let the Maori players play. Ngatai has hardly had any rugby and McKenzie and Lowe would have been fired up to improve on their Saturday performances.
Why not start Hika as well? You want some experience on a young team.
I heard Lowe and Dmac were available.
-
@taniwharugby Pretty shit to get dropped on form due to performances in a scratch team, played out of position, and with a questionable gameplan. Especially Ngatai who didn't even have a bad game.

Only intrigue is whether or not Farrell fit and whether SOB will start or be impact replacement. Owen/AWJ to be finishers
