@JayCee Think Laumape was selected ahead of him? Was there injury cover in the midfield named?

@Tim said in How are the AB's tracking heading into the BIL series?:

@Hooroo Nope. He's been around for a long time though, and wasn't singled out for public criticism like Piutau and Luatua were.

So just selective spiting..... That's good to hear. I don't mind it. Reward for most that are staying on.

Good news for the Highlanders though.

Fekitoa misses out altogether, and Naholo, Sopoaga and Coltman(?) released.

Barrett of McKenzie makes sense. Is there suprise around TKB?

Big call around Coles. (In terms of match fitness)

TKB and both Ioane brothers are available for the Maori.

Dissapointed with that squad to be honest. Laumape I don't rate, can't remember ever seeing him pass the ball and Ofa I think nobody rates. Also not sure if Jordie is ready yet, he has the lowest tackle percentage of all the NZ fullbacks.

They rate Goodhue above Fekitoa which is a positive.

Confirmed: Luatua not selected due to leaving. No mention of TKB on that. Massive double standard.

Is J Barrett there because none of our first fives are decent goal kickers? His defensive play is pretty average.

Big calls on those currently "injured" to be fit in time i.e Coles, Read, Squire, BBBR and Crotty.
Stoked for Rieko, JB, Harris and Laumape.
Bloody hell what does DMac have to do? And Mo'unga? Plus I know Todd is there as injury cover but can't help but think we may need him in the squad...that said don't know who he would make way for..Fifta hasn't been setting the world on fire, but pleased that Goodhue named as cover.

    Fifita is extremely lucky.

He must be the lock cover if Retalicks injury doesn't come right. Based on the Irish loss last year I'd have him way down the list of locks I want playing in a test match.

I would have thought they would have picked NMS as he is so different to the other players. Offers a real point of difference.

@Tim Nope Shag said they have two players who can cover both midfield positions in Crotty and ALB so centre was where they felt they needed additional cover hence the non selection of Fekitoa

That loose forward mix is fucked. 2 old guys who aren't playing, and haven't played for ages, a back up who isn't playing, has hardly played, and isn't exactly a fixture. Meanwhile a guy who is carving up, smoked the Lions last night gets left out? Fucking selective there.

Laumape is a surprise. But not much else is.

@akan004 I'd suggest you look at the bulk of Aso's tries. Passing is one area Laumape has improved massively. Agree regarding Jordie but if there is one coaching group that has a proven track record for improving Barrett tackling then its the men in black.
