NZ Provincial Barbarians v B&I Lions (Whangarei, 3 June 2017)

Can we send AWJ, Sexton and Best back home now?

What a steaming pile of shit from the Lions.
To pick up a lamented point from @Chris-B earlier, this is Clayton McMillan coached team with 4 BoP players... and it's been several years since we've had anything to cheer about.
I had this down as an 80 point thrashing.

I think you guys are being a bit unfair on the Lions. By the looks of it, I'll paraphrase and modify my previous post.
Lions look like a scratch team of good players.
NZ Barbarians look like a team of average NZ players (that aren't in a squad) that the NZRFU has quietly payed for a lot of training time for.

@taniwharugby liking that?

The Bay better have a bloody good season this year then...

@Donsteppa The Bay players in this NZB team know what the biggest game of the season is...and it isn't against the other bay.
And the Lions don't know that they're playing for the Lions for the first time in four years?

Could one of the Lions locks please learn how to jump?

A half time Lions perspective from the Guardian.
Half-time! NZ Barbarians 7-3 Lions
Well, well, well. Who’d have seen that coming, there is of course still 40 minutes to go but rest assured Warren Gatland and Andy Farrell will be spitting feathers at the moment. The Lions have been rusty, covered head to toe in cobwebs - best summed up by Stuart Hogg’s woes. It is understandable considering they arrived in New Zealand on Wednesday and there have been a few shining lights, Faletau, Sinckler and Te’o in particular.
For the BaaBaas, Gatland has been superb. His kicking arsenal is terrific and they have scored the only try of the half through their captain and hooker Anderson-Heather. The NZ Barbarians have farmers and shop workers in their team and they are considerably more comfortable on the ball.
That said, the Lions will surely put on the squeeze in the second half. Back soon.
