Stormers v Chiefs

@Crucial I actually thought Bird was the quiet one of the two locks.
Fair enough. That's why I asked. I noticed Bird more than BBBR but then again I don't tend to watch the grunt work as much as I'm usually watching with a back's eyes and looking at the possibilities away from the ruck

I thought TKB was quieter than normal, didn't get to the breakdown as quick, didn't see many snipes from the base. Not his usual energetic self. I guess you could also say the pack also was a little sub-par.
Didn't they start with no halfback on the bench or have I got that wrong? If so he probably had to play a bit more paced to last the game.

Correct.
Finlay Christie was injured before the game and Alex Nankivell the Ta$man second five replaced him.

If you watch a clip of THAT try check out Beaver at the very start of the movement. He has run back behind DMac and Lowe and is just standing watching with a look as if to say WTF are you doing.
I've watched it about ten times and I just can't see that look. He just goes in behind for support and jogs a bit

It's a gif here, bloody brilliant try.

That's one of the best passes I've ever seen. Off the ground, behind the back, perfect spiral about 8-10 metres hitting the man running at full pace perfectly to put him away. Fucking outrageous, that's the kind of thing you watch rugby for.

For mine the Chiefs didn't make the most of their opportunities. On each raid in the Stormers 22 i would have been more inclined toward the L/O option (since the Chiefs has been the most reliable in the comp), rather than taking the three on offer. Also they let the Stormers get off to a flyer in the 1st spell which was always going to put them on the back foot and chase the game.

I've finally been able to watch the game this evening. Firstly, it was an entertaining game and a match the Chiefs could have won. I might be repeating what has been said previously but the key moment to me was conceding the soft try right on HT after the mistake from Leitch from a defensive lineout. That gave the Stormers some momentum after the Chiefs had worked their way back into the game.
The Chiefs certainly had chances in the last 10 mins but you have to give the Stormers credit as they defended very well. Much better than last year.
I think the Stormers will be a tought nut at home but it will be interesting to see how they travel. I don't remember the Newlands crowd being so vocal in the past with all of the booing.
Need 5 pts against the Cheetahs now, and they won't be lacking any motivation.

Excellent game to watch. Chiefs back three were awesome. ALB also was everywhere.
The Stormers pack outplayed the Chiefs pack. Love that number 8. He's aggressive and has some Bob Skinstad like skills.
TKBs passing was fine, however he doesn't take on the line and I thought in the first half there were gaps and opportunities for him.

That Stormers 14 looks classy
He had a cracking game. Looks even smaller than DMac
