ironically, if Guptill was out again, its likely Ronchi would go to such is the balance of the side.

meanwhile Guptill says fuck you Ronchi, and smacks a bunch of sixes...

Guppy rode a bit of luck late in that innings, but that's one hell of a knock. Well done young fulla.

All hail Lord Sir Martin Guptill.

    180* in a chase of 280.

In a chase of 280 Guppy goes and scores 64% if our runs. That's gotta be a record of some description. What an incredible innings after an injury break, some of the cleanest hitting you'll ever see.

@No-Quarter From what I can tell, he just replaced one A.Jones as 4th on the all time list...

Fantastic innings by Guppy. He's now got the three highest ODI scores by a New Zealander and Rossco's short-lived status as NZ's best ODI batsman is under severe threat.

Great innings by Luke Ronchi at five, as well. Summed up the situation perfectly and did exactly what was required. Cemented his spot in my mind. 🙂

Thank goodness Kane didn't review his lbw, otherwise Guppy would've been out a lot earlier.

Today's innings take Guppy's ODI average marginally ahead of Rossco's as well.

Told ya it would be an early finish! 😆

    Guptill must be knackered.

Can someone design some glasses that make red balls look white?

@SynicBast In that innings v Sri Lanka, Hesson must've said to Ronchi, if you get one-fiddy today, you're in for life... #regrets

Listened to the final 5 overs driving home form the pub quiz. Bryan Waddle was really pushing Guptill to bat 5 in the test matches as was Smithy earlier on the TV. Two biggest voices of the sport here in NZ saying the same thing so is it a big chance?

It would mean dropping Henry Nicholls who scored 98 and 53 in his last two test innings.

@tubbyj Guppy doesn't think he will get selected.

    Eh, Bangladesh.

Nicholls does have a couple of decent scores to his name against decent opposition (aka, not Bangladesh) but I don't really see the point of persisting with him if there's a chance someone with more potential, like Guptill, might work in that spot. Personally I'd gamble on Guppy but who the fuck knows what goes on in the selectors heads.

Personally I can't believe they haven't tried Guppy at 5 already, I've been calling for it since basically the beginning of his career. His hard hitting style has never suited opening, he was only there because we had decent enough options down the order and 0 options to open.

Guptill not needed in the test side, Taylor not needed on the T20 side.

Good thing we have a ton of depth in our batting as so we don't require any of those guys.
