Meanwhile the Jaapies have won the toss again and will bat.

Rabada in for them and Morris out.

Ferguson in for us and Ish is out.

And as an aside - in other cricket news - I happened to look up the champions trophy format the other day and discovered that the Windies have been so poor they've been ousted by the Bangles.

Our group is with Australia, England and the Bangles - so not to put too fine a point on things we pretty much need to hammer the Bangles and edge the poms to make the play-offs. If we beat the Aussies that would be a bonus, but I somewhat subscribe to the "French 2011" theory that we're not good enough to beat the Aussies twice in the same tournament, so we'd be better to keep our powder dry.

Pitch doesn't have much terror in it. Jaapies will be looking for something big.

    300 minimum.

Fairly ominous start from the Proteas. Hopefully we get a breakthrough soon - otherwise it could be a long day.

CdGh dynamites the SA top order and gets both Faf and Cue the Cock in one over.

Both of them bits of gifts, though I think Colin managed to get the one that got Faf to hold up just a little.

    115/3

Latham misses a stumping chance of Santner. Bowled wide across Duminy, so not an easy take, but JP was a long way down...

Broom takes a very good catch and Miller is out cheaply - big wicket and we're into the all rounders!

    164/5

    AB still there, though!

Hmmm not ideal having these 2 at the crease together for the final overs!

Get them out is the solution!

Kane needs to bowl an over or two here. Ferguson might get smacked in the final overs.

    183/6 after 40 overs.

Amla and Duminy particularly had problems timing the ball, so maybe my 300 minimum was a bit optimistic, but I'm inclined to think the Jaapies are still a fair bit below par right now.

That is where Williamson is poor as a captain. Styris could spot Ferguson was going to struggle to bowl a 4 over spelll why not him. Even after the third over made it obvious he still gives him a 4th. why not give Neesham one over or himself.
