Nice to see the hairy javelin still at it, knows how to win a game doesn't he
NZ cricketer gets the job done with one meaty blow, reminiscent of his Cricket World Cup heroics.

A $2.4m turd to be exact. How did this no name guy cash in so much?

I watched him get carted all over Bay Oval in the local T20 competition in December. He bowls a LOT of variations.... not effective though.
I am stunned he got a contract, let alone a big one.

Fast bowlers are needed because that is obviously what India are lacking. You can see this by the fact the world best T20 bowler, Tahir, wasn't even picked up. Also a lot of fast bowlers seem to skip the IPL. Mills and Boult both benefited from Starc dropping out. Hazlewood and Steyn aren't playing either.

He's been injured a lot, but when fit he is very fast, swings it & bowls good yorkers. He just had an "audition" in the UK tour of India & bowled really well so can clearly do it in Indian conditions. So its not that hard to see why he got picked up, harder to see how the bidding got that high but fast death bowlers are not exactly easy to find. Especially not ones who have literally just showcased their ability.

Doull is suggesting that Blundell could be looked at to bat at 6 and keep in place of Neesham. Brownlie to open with Guptill. Neesham needs to bowl well to justify his position as an all-rounder.
I expect Hesson will be conservative and retain Latham.
If we pick a specialist keeper then I think they will drop Broom and keep six bowling options.

I don't think he's in the squad is he, Doully? Aren't we back with Ronchi as the second keeper in the squad?
Doesn't sound like Guppy is due to play on Saturday, but I think the opposite about conservatism. I think if he doesn't make runs next outing they'll drop Tom and give Guppy and Luke a run. Who else misses out is my main question?
Could be any of Broom, Neesham, CdGh, Santner or Sodhi from today's team.
Based on his bowling (lack thereof), I'd say Jimmy. But, the proper life-for-like would be Neil Broom, which right now would be harsh - may not be by Saturday, of course!

He is saying you don't go back to Ronchi and bring Blundell into the squad for the last 3 ODIs vs SA and see how he goes. There is also a tri-series with the Bangles and Ireland prior to the Champions Trophy to look at options. Clearly, a change needs to be made as the opening partnerships haven't delivered.

The last statement Hesson made was that they will probably go with Latham + Ronchi to the Champions trophy. After that they will bring in a new keeper and Latham will go back to being only a batsman. I think they feel that someone like Blundell won't be ready in time.
