Nah it was a girly pump type barbell. Havent done it since!

Had a few days on the weights since then though and all is progressing pretty well. Still weighing in just under 85kg so pretty happy.

    Beginning to fear Thursday mornings....

Got in there at 6today and cranked out 3 sets body weight pullups to warm up and then straight in to the deadlifts. First set 12 of 70kg as a warmup and 1 set of 8 at 110kg, 2 sets of 8 at 130kg followed by a drop set of 10 (well maybe only about 7 or 😎 at 70kg to finished....nearly dam spewed! Had to have a sit down afterwards before moving on the military press. Feels good now though!

Super squat saturday today - 6 sets of the suckers with my 2 heaviest sets being 8 reps of 110kg.

Also tried the old 75% of BW for max reps on the bench and did 23 reps @ 65kg which is a PB on that.

Oh and weighed in bang on 85kg. Feeling good!

Early morning squat session following by spin today. Legs are feeling great right now but can see myself struggling a wee bit later tonight and tomorrow morning.

Got told this morning that my usual spinning instructor is gonna be on holiday for the next 2 weeks which means the tough girl (with the massive implants) is gonna be taking over. Always good for an intense workout!

Been a bit sore last few days and its a weird pain, like a nerve pain running from my shoulders down my arms.

Looks like I may have a shoulder impingment so off the bench press for a while and will be seeing my PT tomorrow to go through some exercises and stretchs to try sort it out.

Good stretching session this morning. Got a few new exercises to include tomorrow rather then bench and already feeling a bit less tight in the chest and shoulders.

Also had an awesome abs session today - only 12mins in total but only about 90 seconds rest throughout. Hard work!

    Been a slow week.

Managed to fracture two ribs last sunday so still a bit tender. Tried to do a spin class on monday but found it pretty hard going on the sprints. Hills fine.

Went in to the actual gym for the first time all week today and did 3 sets of light squats with little discomfort and some shoulder and biceps work. Was super keen for deadlifts as havn't done any for about 10 days but there was no way I could even get to start position. No abs work obviously!

Gonna see how it all feels on Tues eitherwise may skip again

nice work - ribs must be getting better! that wouldn't have been fun if they were still causing you grief!!! and followed by spin no less.

When you are injured or unwell it always feels good to get some sort of workout done - at least you can kind of maintain progress rather than go backwards.

Yeah I think the key is to take it easy but know when to take a break. I wont train with the flu etc but mainly as respect for others. But with a minor injury it's easy to just manage your workload.

Deadlifts are still a no go!

Tried to crack in to them this morning and could feel the ribs big time. Did 3 sets at a light weight 70kg but that was it.

Still managed the rest of my routine and 6 sets of body weight pullups today.

Been a funny couple of weeks with heaps of work on so only have had time for 2 weight sessions a week (thurs and sat) and a spin session on tuesdays.

This has meant that for my 2 weight sessions I haven't really been able to do much of a split and instead had to revert to a full day type routine. So squats, deadlifts, bench, overhead press, some row, pullups, chinups and situps. Plus have chucked in the odd biceps day one a week, triceps on the other . Sometimes add in 3 supersets of a couple of additional leg exercises too.

Seems to be working okay as feeling stronger and continuing to push myself BUT my body weight has dropped to just over 82kg and wife said am looking leaner in the gut section. Body is feeling good though. No injuries.

Am away down the mt for a few days later this week so will be working out in the hotel gym again. Always a bit of a laugh!

Decided I have had enough of squatting and deadlifting in runners and I note my gym has a sign saying 'no bare feet' so picked up some fake chuck taylors from the warehouse today for $17. Been wearing them with my suit to wear em in. Feel good and looking forwarding to trying the flat soles in the gym.
