Edit: England have another 3 test series against
NZSouth Africa in June 2018.
Ireland play Oz. And Wales have ???.The 4th out of window test is decided by the unions involved. Ireland pitched to NZRU about playing in Chicago this year. There was a 4th test being discussed for November 2017 which featured the discussion about English RFU offering £1.5m as the match fee for NZ and NZ making a counter offer of £3m to more properly reflect the total revenues from such a game of £9m from ticket sales and food/corporate hospitality. No agreement reached so match is not going ahead. Edit : Therefore, the next WR in-window test is the Nov 2018 series.

You're quite right - don't know why I had NZ in my head. It is France playing NZ in June '18.

This post is a week or so late ... but further to Steve Tew's interview with Veitch last Sunday I've been pondering something.
A bit was made of arranging a potential All Blacks v England match prior to the next scheduled match up in 2018.
Reasons offered up in it's favour, apart from the obvious on field attraction of 1 v 2 in the world, included the potential money making capacity of the match.
Also the potential for an additional revenue earning test generally was raised by Veitch and dampened somewhat by Tew, who indicated they weren't absolutely gagging for an additional game and if they were "it definitely won't be England".
Although it seemed neither Veitch nor anyone commenting on the situation post interview picked up on it, to me this was pretty obvious code for "England are the enemy in terms of revenue equilisation. If we want a revenue generating test to share we will play ball with someone who will end up supporting us."
On that count, in my opinion any of the other 3 home unions, Italy, or basically anyone other than France or England, could gain from revenue equilisation.
England have the big stadium and the big TV audience. France similar. I think on the whole pretty much any other nation gains from revenue sharing.
So NZ aren't about to get in bed and try and make money in a situation that isn't going to be supported by that same party going forward. I hope they sell their services to someone who will come on board for the greater good.
My conspiracy theory anyway.

So it looks set to be announced that we will play the Babas on next year's end of tour, which to me is a bit of a nonsense game against a line up ozzies and saffas who couldn't even make their own countries end of year squads! Nowadays no /few NH players seem to be made available for this match, which got me thinking about instead selecting a team made up of kiwis based in NH. It might attract more interest etc
A backline could look something like this : Slade, Piatau, Rokocoko, Smith, Nonu, Carter, Leonard...
Forwards May not be as strong with a few ex super players in there rather than test quality however -

Forwards May not be as strong with a few ex super players in there rather than test quality howeverI don't think you want four tough tests anyway. Three tests on the EOYT is ideal and then add in one more against easier opposition.

@hydro11 Have no issue about playing an easier opposition (eg Japan, Georgia or Romania) on next year's tour, but playing a composite side of ozzie and saffa super players is a bit MEH for me. I realise its a money maker at Twickers, but would have been unique to play in Tbilisi for example

Yeah, I totally agree. I don't really care much for the EOYT and it would be nice to do a "charity" match at least once each year.
Georgia are well worthy a visit after the RWC. Toss them in with Japan, USA, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, no reason for us to at least play these guys once a year.

I would agree with this and have been saying for some time that viewing the NH unions as one amorphous glob (De Enemy) is wrong. However, sharing revenue with Welsh, Irish, Scottish and Italian unions for November test matches is not going to work - it only ends up impoverishing those unions who rely heavily on test income to sustain their rugby set-ups. Sharing of revenue on 4th internationals makes a lot more sense, but yet the argument is that there should be less, not more, tests each year. So could tests be reduced elsewhere in the year?
The current IRB/WR Tours and Test Schedule 2012-2019 has featured 3-test series for the SANZAR unions as requested by them. From a financial point of view, I don't know how good this has been for them. Have many of the tests been sell-outs? If these are reduced to two, and June tours restricted further, then four tests in November may become a more regular feature.
The suggestion that NZ could play a game against a team such as Georgia has some merit - the attendances have been growing for their tests over the last couple of years. Would an exhibition match a la Soldier Field be an option? On the other hand, AIG may want to continue extracting their pound of flesh and have another US-based game. Alternatively, the suggestion that they could play Japan as a promo for the upcoming RWC sound like a good proposition.

The EOYT matches sure. But surely they stand to gain from England and France. (?)
My point being England and France stand to lose out individually. But have the potential to invest in the growth of the game worldwide.

Noise seems to indicate it won't be a match v Japan in Japan. This is disappointing.
Looks like baabaas. Venue will be interesting, I assume not at twickers if NZRU views is that the RFU are gouging. Probably Wembley, maybe Olympic stadium. Definitely London though I would reckon.
