No you're right. He made his debut batting 9, from memory.
Incredible! I wonder what talents I had hidden inside and instead focused on the wrong thing...........

At that point he looked like being the next Cameron White, not the next fucking Ricky Ponting.

And a pretty useless spinner at that....

They were using the Michael Clarke principle: people won't see him coming

His wiki entry is freak reading, too:
Smith was born in Sydney to an Australian father, Peter, who has a degree in chemistry and works with pigments and waxes,[9] and an English mother.[10] He was educated at Menai High School, but at 17 he dropped out of the Higher School Certificate (HSC) to play cricket in England.[11][12]
Yeah - stay in school kids... unless you have a middle name like Devereux and a face like @mariner4life watches in butch lesbo porn.
One of his earliest achievements was being the leading wicket taker at the 2008 KFC Big Bash tournament . This was despite only playing four out of the five games. He took 4/15 against Queensland and finished with 9 wickets overall.[14] Due to his efforts, he was named the second best player of the tournament
By the end of the 2009–10 domestic season Smith had a first-class batting average of over 50 after just 13 first-class matches. While his first-class bowling average in the high forties was not as impressive, his bowling appeared to be steadily improving following some well-publicised mentoring and high praise from Shane Warne.[17] In the final match of the season he took 7 for 64 in the second innings against South Australia.[18]

Pakistan reeling at 8/97. Fucking carnage in the last session which was a mixture of great pressure bowling and utter WTF from some of the Pakistan batsmen.
15 wickets fell for the day as the Pakistan bowlers found their rhythm as well. The wicket was a little tougher to play on by the looks, but there is some serious heat out there with Wahab and Starc climbing into the high 140s.
Pakistan are 332 behind. They've faced 43 overs. If they fall quickly this afternoon, you'd struggle to think why Smith wouldn't ask them to follow on, as the new ball will come in at the end of the day's play, even with the innings break.
Hazlewood is in menacing form, and Starc and Bird are backing him up nicely. The latter has an economy rate of 0.77 FFS! Lyon probably unlucky to miss out on the wickets BUT if he doesn't slow his pace he's not going to get those balls bouncing, ripping, and popping up.
Having said that, Wade missed a sitter of a stumping. Yeah... he's in the team because of his keeping...

What would you like to see if Cummins and Pattinson were available for selection too?
Though one. Probably Bird gets dropped for Pattinson as he has better control than Cummins.
Kind of disappointed we didn't get a look at Chadd Sayers ahead of Nathan Lyon.
